Walking with Dinosaurs is one of the most known and loved documentary series of all time and not without good reason for that. To start, even almost two decades after its first release ,its cgi and special effects still hold up really good and the science in the show, apart from same minor inaccuracies, has been proved correct. Also these series made the dinosaurs from the monsters that Hollywood usually show us to real creatures ,that hunt, raise their chicks and try to stay alive in these brutal world ,which earth was back then and still is. All in all ,this documentary is a must see and if you ever loved dinosaurs ,like me, then take about 3 hours and watch it, even with the whole family ,in case you wish to introduce ,these amazing creators to your kinds.

When i was small, i just loved dinosaurs (who didn't?). When this series aired in Finland, we recorded every episode on VHS. Then i watched them over and over again. Now, more than 11 years later, i found those old recordings. After watching a few episodes I was surprised about two things: firstly, i'm still very fascinated about those creatures, and secondly the computer animation still looks amazing, the dinosaurs look real and very much alive (and i might add: thirdly, rewinding a VHS still isn't much fun...)So if you have even the slightest interest in dinosaurs (or computer animation?), "walking with dinosaurs" is a must-see.

I viewed "Walking with Dinosaurs" in my Geology class last week. I can honestly say this is the first movie I've ever seen at school that I would buy to watch over and over again at home. The graphics and the stories are simply amazing. Since scientists have only fossils to go by, they of course do not know as much about dinosaurs as they would have us believe. However, the graphics and story lines in this film give you a feel for how the Dinosaurs "probably" were. Many of the scenes resemble wildlife shows in which they follow a lion on the hunt, or an antelope escaping danger. I found myself actually pulling for a turtle to get to the sea, before a gigantic mammal weighing over a ton ate him. The graphics are better than Jurassic Park, however, unlike Jurassic Park, the information is insightful, giving the audience a visual feel for how scientist believe ancient creatures acted. If you're interested in Science, History, or Dinosaurs then you will love this film. If you are a science teacher, show your kids this film! They will love it.

Today computer-generated special effects are used quite frequently. In my opinion, seeing 3D animation on screen has lost its novelty. Everything has been done. It is very hard to find something that is truly unique these days and I was very pleasantly surprised to come across a copy of Walking with Dinosaurs at the video store. The box describes this documentary special to be truly unique so I decided to give it a shot. I was very happy with what I saw and I would strongly recommend this production to those film buffs out there that have lost all faith in the integration of 3D animation and live action.Walking With Dinosaurs magnificently captures the feel of the typical nature documentary shown on the Discovery Channel today. In fact I actually have forgotten numerous times that I'm watching a bunch of 3D polygons modeled and animated by a team of artists and animators! The dinosaurs have a very realistic feel about them and they were very well animated to look like they were really caught in the wild by wilderness videographers. Another thing I enjoy about this film is how it has a tendency to look very unscripted. It all seems like they have captured these dinosaurs living the way they would have lived millions of years ago not knowing what to expect next. This film does have its weaknesses however that one should take note of. The producers for some reason decided to film silicon models for the close up shots. I feel that they made a very poor decision here because these silicon models were, in my opinion, very unrealistic and using them actually takes away from the realism of the film. Also the opening sequences are very poorly made. They could have done a lot better here, but it only takes away 30 seconds of your life so I wouldn't let that ruffle your feathers too much! :-)Anyway, I encourage you to check this one out.I give this an overall score of 7/10.
