Very Cool!!!
Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
View MoreThe movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
View More1st Match: Sting vs Meng, WCW US Heavyweight Championship. A slow start, even though Sting's in his hometown, the crowd barely rises above a rumble. Meng is slow and sloppy, the only good part is when Sting's on offense. The ref stops the count, which instantly kills the match, and they quickly finish before the crowd realizes what happened. I can finally say that the ref stopping mid-count is the ultimate disconnect. Nothing screams, "THIS IS FAKE!!" louder than the ref stopping a three-count. Rating: 1/5 2nd Match: Paul Orndorff vs The Renegade, WCW World TV Championship. I like Orndorff, but his career was more than winding down here. Renegade does some terrible dropkicks, and poor Orndorff has to take them like they're the most powerful things ever. Also, Nick Patrick's out of position for the three-count and doesn't see Orndorff's arm up. Boring, and with a lazy ending, O for 2 so far. Rating: 1.5/5 3rd Match: Kamala vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Ugh! This felt a lot longer than 6 minutes. It's just two guys attempting to wrestle until Zodiac hits Duggan with an alarm clock behind the ref's back. At least Kevin Sullivan didn't wrestle here, but man this was a waste of time. Rating: 1/5 4th Match: Diamond Dallas Page vs Dave Sullivan. Kev Sulivan might not've had a match, but his incompetent brother sure did, if you can even call this a match. A nothing match that's shorter than 6 minutes and serves nothing more than to waste your time because nothing happens. DDP is way better than this. Rating: 1/5 5th Match: The Nasty Boys vs The Blue Bloods vs Harlem Heat, Triangle Tag match for the WCW Tag Team Championships. If I'm correct, this is the first Triangle tag match, if so, boy you can tell. The match has no flow with guys randomly tagging in opponents just so they can get some ring time. The ending is also stupid, and doesn't help Harlem Heat as champs at all because them winning was a fluke. Sadly, this is the best match so far. Rating: 2/5 6th Match: Ric Flair vs Randy Savage, Lifeguard match. It's a Lumberjack match but they're on the beach, how novel. This is nothing compared to their match at last months PPV, which is easily a Match of the Year contender. The Lumberjacks just stand there and occasionally toss the guys back in when they leave the ring. Like the other matches on this show, there's nothing to keep you invested in the match other than the wrestlers themselves. The ending's OK, but the match is so "meh" up to that point that I just didn't care. Rating: 2.5/5 7th Match: Vader vs Hulk Hogan, Steel Cage match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. So Dennis Rodman of all people is watching Hogan's back, because Jimmy Hart just wasn't intimidating enough. At least this is when Rodman was with the Spurs, which I like cuz it's my hometown team. The match is nothing special, just a ruin-of-the-mill cage match with no blood, no huge bumps, and no tension because Hogan had already beaten Vader like 3 times before this. Rating: 2/5 Final Rating: 3 out of 10. Who booked this PPV and thought it was OK to have people pay money to see it?!? No match is worth your time here, and WCW seemed more concerned with advertising Slim Jim's than putting on good matches. This is the worst PPV of 1995 so far, please tell me there isn't one that's worse.
View More(07.16.95)Live from Huntington Beach, CA; The BeachAttendance 9,500Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Bobby HeenanThis PPV takes place on an actual beach! I kinda like the atmosphere. United States ChampionshipSting (C) Vs Meng (W/Col. Robert Parker)Sting retains the title after pinning Meng with a sloppy roll-up. Roadwarrior Hawk saves Sting from a beatdown after the match. This is NOT a way you wanna start your show. The match only got tolerable when Sting was on offense. Other than that, it was mostly the pits.*1/4Television ChampionshipThe Renegade (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Paul OrndorffThe Renegade retains the title with a back suplex. Referee, Nick Patrick fails to realize Orndorff's shoulders were up during the count. Basically, Orndorff got screwed. This match was terrible! The Renegade was extremely sloppy during this match, especially with his dropkicks. He's a poor man's version of The Ultimate Warrior. To make matters worse, the crowd HATED The Renegade and booed him every chance they had.3/4*Kamala (W/Kevin Sullivan) Vs "Hacksaw" Jim DugganKamala wins with help from The Zodiac. We've gone from bad to worse now! All I kept thinking during this match is why I'm wasting precious minutes watching this! The Zodiac drills Duggan with a freaking clock! a clock! I don't give the DUD rating very often, but this one is worthy of it.DUDDiamond Dallas Paige (W/The Diamond Doll & Max Muscle) Vs Dave SullivanThis storyline is reminiscent of George Steele and Miss Elizabeth, only with Dave Sullivan being infatuated with The Diamond Doll. DDP wins with a Diamond Cutter. Yet, another poor match from this PPV! Nobody gave a damn about this storyline, nor should they. *Tag Team Championship (Triangle Match)Harlem Heat (C) (W/Sister Sherri) Vs The Blue Bloods Vs The Nasty BoysIn one of the strangest finishes I've ever seen, Harlem Heat retains. This was a weird match for the most part. They weren't able to get into a proper rhythm at all. The finish made no sense and made Harlem Heat look very weak. Sadly, this has been the best match of the show so far.*1/2Lifeguard MatchRic Flair Vs Randy SavageThis is basically a lumberjack match. Savage wins with a flying elbow drop from the top. While this isn't their best match by any means, it's still Savage and Flair. I still thoroughly enjoyed this match, even if it wasn't their best outing. Savage and Flair can have a solid match with their eyes closed***1/4WCW Heavyweight Championship (Steel Cage Match)Hulk Hogan (C) (W/Dennis Rodman & Jimmy Hart) Vs Big Van VaderHogan wins by exiting the cage. Ric Flair berates Vader after the match for losing to Hogan. Vader turns face by beating on Flair and Arn Anderson. Vader challenges Flair and Anderson to a handicapped match. This was a pretty disappointing cage match. It wasn't terrible by any means, just rather basic and unimpressive. I felt Hogan beat him a little too easy as well, but that's Hogan for you. Vader's face turn wouldn't last very long because he'd leave for the WWF shortly after this.**1/4This is one of the worst PPV's I've ever seen! That's saying something since WCW had quite a few stinkers. The beach setting is charming at first, but that wears off quickly once you realize how crappy the matches on the PPV are. The only match that is truly solid is the lifeguard match, and even that is nowhere near Savage and Flair at their best.
View More1. U.S. Title Match: Meng Vs. Champ-Sting - Quite clumsy contest. Meng dominated almost all the match. But there were some nice moments like Hurricanrana! from Sting. He retained the U. S. Belt 6/10 2. World Television Title Match: Paul Orndorff Vs. Champ-The Renegade - Awful, Renegade is one low-skilled wrestler. He was booked as face and crowd cheered for Orndorff! They really hated Renegade. Champ remained. 4/103. Kamala Vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan - Another terrible contest. 2 stiffs brawled for too long. I didn't care for these 2 even a little bit. Worst match of the event. 3/10 4. Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Dave Sullivan - Sullivan is bottom of wrestling. That's not indescribable how poor this guy was. Only for DDP's won over that goof: 6/10 5. World Tag Team Title Triangle Match: Blue Bloods Vs. Nasty Boys Vs. Champs- Harlem Heat 6.5/10 6. LifeGuard Match (or Lumberjack for clear): Ric Flair Vs. Macho Man - Yeah Chris Kanyon, my all-time favorite wrestler between the Guards! I Saw these 2 fight hundred times. Scenario is almost equal. and I HATE, how Flair had to job in 1994-95 to former WWF Superstars, just as Savage or Hogan... 5/10 7. WCW World Heavyweight Title Cage Match: Champ-Hogan Vs. Vader - Immortal Hulk scored again!!! Are you bored yet? So do I. Poor Vader, I don't wonder he was shortly after that outta WCW. Match was as bad as Hogan's beating everybody. 4/10
