Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

A short tempered film star is murdered in this early nineties mystery film based off of the Mary Higgins Clark Novel 'Weep No more My Lady'. The film star who acts like a diva throughout the first part of the film is Leila. We see early on that she is receiving strange phone calls from a person with a disguised voice, and is in a pretty depressed state. She's filming a movie that she clearly does not want to be a part of, while at the same time struggles with insecurities about her husband Ted and her sister Elisabeth. She is drowned late one night and the husband is the main suspect. Where 'Weep No More My Lady' fails is at establishing characters. The suspect list is seemingly long, but as a viewer I really had no idea why half of the people would want Leila dead. Yes she was mean to pretty much everyone around her, but was that enough to kill? Anyways, one more person is killed after coming close to discovering Leila's murderer. That death scene was actually done pretty well. The girl is stalked in a dark building by the killer wearing full fencing gear and carrying a bow and arrow.Eventually we find out the killer's identity, and it's pretty weak to be honest. The acting was OK. It was nice to see Shelley Winters who provided some great comic relief, but this movie was disappointing. Outside of two tense moments, it dragged on too much and was a bit of a bore.3/10

I like the acting of Francesca Annis, Kristin Scott Thomas and Shelley Winters; but what were these ladies thinking? Why ever did they allow themselves to become involved in this weak melodramatic rubbish? The action was slow....they had numerous loooooong shots of vans arriving which was total padding! Exciting? Not! The characters weren't fleshed out at all. They all seemed totally wooden and wishing they were somewhere else.Francesca Annis' character was being hounded by anonymous telephone calls. She was already insecure and hysterical and the anxiety she suffered made her take more tranquilisers and recreational drugs than were good for her. She was supposed to be breaking up with her lover, Ted (whom she suspected of being responsible for the anonymous calls) but the film showed their initial pre-lovemaking fumblings by the lake where she eventually met her death! People making love just before they split up? Were we meant to believe this? What a weak story! I rented this because I like Kristin Scott Thomas but this is certainly no English Patient. Rent something else with Kristin in it. Up till now I hadn't seen a dud film with her in the cast list but this was the exception to the rule.Francesca Annis spent most of the film feeling overwrought - by the end of the film, I knew how she felt!
