Really Surprised!
It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
View MoreMy thoughts? Watch it.OK, so this movie was cheesy, corny, out there, whatever you want to call it but it was also REALLY, REALLY fun! It's a musical. There's a little action, some zombies, and lots of romance. What else could you ask for? The singing kind of played like a spoof of 'The Phantom of the Opera' in the beginning of the film. If you were a fan of Buffy, think the musical episode where it was so silly that how could it not be fun? You can't go in thinking serious, or horror because that's not what you'll find here but you will find fun!
View MoreZombie Love is a highly entertaining movie that combines two seemingly totally different movie genres into one. The theme of the movie is appealing. It is, after all, a love story about two people (well, one actually, if you don't count the dead guy) who are very unlikely to fall in love with each other, and yet, they do. The choices they are faced with are universal, and very recognizable: The lead zombie Dante is confronted with the choice whether he should betray his zombie nature and his friends because of his love for Claudia. Claudia on the other hand has to choose whether or not she is to follow her heart in the search for her truly beloved zombie. This may sound dull; after all, movies have been made about these themes wherein the characters talk, and talk, and talk Not in Zombie Love! Why? Well, it's a musical! Instead of whining, characters burst into song! This movie offers horror, drama, romance, humor and music all in one package. Because of the very clever way the plot is written, the humor, music and drama go hand in hand, without one overruling the other. The zombie theme is not merely a continuing joke. It really adds to the story, which is compelling and funny. The lyrics and music are well written, and the two main characters share a chemistry not often seen in the semi-professional genre. A little background knowledge of the horror and musical genres can help the viewer to appreciate the inside jokes even more, but there's enough to enjoy even if it's your first encounter with a zombie-musical movie. To say anything about the finale would be a horrible spoiler, so I'm not going to. You're just gonna have to buy the DVD or keep a lookout for a screening at a place near you. Be warned though: Don't watch it alone! It's worth to have somebody with you to share the fun with!
View MoreWe saw this film at a festival in Atlanta, and it was a lot of fun. The film has interesting characters, great songs, and a fun plot. It not only pokes fun at zombie films, but also pokes fun at musicals. The timing was excellent and the jokes were funny. We use quotes from the movie all the time and can't help but giggle. The music and choreography were fantastic! The costumes and the makeup were well done, and the special effects fit the atmosphere of the film very well. There's a surprise during the closing credits that had us laughing for hours afterwards. I highly recommend this film for anyone looking for a light-hearted film to brighten their day. Be warned though, the songs will get stuck in your head for months!
View MoreWhat should have been a two minute film with a weak punchline goes for an interminable length of time, with nothing interesting happening during its entirety. The "cleverness" of having epic songs throughout do not hide the amateurishness. Bad acting, bad makeup, no jokes, horrible editing, and decent singing but of songs that you cannot hear the lyrics of. It has the entertainment value of a third rate school play.Zombie films are two a penny these days, so trying for something original is admirable, but there's more to a successful film than a new twist on an idea.A good place to start improving this film might be tightening the edit, learning about comic timing, and figuring out how to write jokes so that they're actually funny.I do not know why it got so many awards - I can only imagine its competition was entirely unwatchable.
