Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to members of the 1%
View MoreThere is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
View MoreThere are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
View MoreThis show is some of the most unsupported dreck I've ever had the misfortune to watch. First of all, this is NOT proved history; it is basically one crackpot geologist's theories, completely unsupported by any legitimate scientific evidence. Scott Wolter is NOT an archaeologist, and relies more on conspiracy theories of "what the government doesn't want you to know" than on established field work that produces real artifacts and proof. You never see any interviews with established and renowned academic experts, and my sense is that he couldn't delineate between a real Viking sword and a Clovis point! For a channel which supposedly presents "history," this program, among others (like the Ancient Alien astronaut crowd), is irresponsible presentation of pseudo-history. At least the ancient alien crowd sometimes presents info in a tongue-in-cheek manner, and one can recognize that it's solely "what-if entertainment". This show takes itself so seriously, and Wolter is so desperate to convince us he's an "expert" rather than a rock-hound with no archaeological experience, that I can't even stand to watch his "intro trailers" anymore.
View More500 years ago the earth was believed to be flat. Anyone who was questioning that fact was burned, killed, excommunicated. Around 150 years ago a guy name Schlieman decided to take the Iliad (supposedly written 2700 years ago) and by the description given in that book he found the city of Troy....Which was thought to be a myth for many years...Countless examples throughout history can be given of the huge ego of those who write their own believes and impose it as ''the truth''.And this basically the premises this show is going for. They dare to ask questions going against prechewed historical facts of north American history. The format is scripted dramatized but is entertaining as hell in my book. The host of the show is presented as a modern day Indiana Jones who debrush sometimes debunk sometimes leave us wanting to know more about certain subject rumours mysteries of north American history.Personnaly I don't care if the show is scripted I like the fact that they dare to bring new ideas and they go on site to see and ask questions. At the base of those scripts...Someone had to make the research on these subjects. The bottom line is...If you have a lazy mind who like prechewed historical facts and love that everything is clear and decided for you...Don't watch this show...You will end up writing reviews about it questioning the details the format...the science... the hair cut of the host.... or find any excuses to discredit what does dare to fight your precious establishment of the truth. ( And frankly I have to say people like that make me want to be a member of the NRA which is weird because I am Canadian ).But if you have an open mind and like the reality TV feel that this show is giving you about historical valid questions.. This is a show for you. Enjoy.I give a 9/10.
View MoreOK I was all for this show, and enjoy learning about the country's past. This show is outrageous. He did a show about the Cahokia Mounds, trying to ''prove'' they are somehow linked to all these other mound sites in the country. Please. I live 5 minutes from the mounds, which by the way aren't actually in Cahokia, and basically everyone around here already knows everything there is to know about them. Get your dumb azz kicked out of town trying' to rewrite our history...idiot. If he says he's here in Cahokia one more time I'm going to lose my marbles. This show is incredibly disappointing and misleading. I hope it gets canceled, quickly.
View MoreThey just lead you along by the nose for hours, thinking that you are actually going to see something real and concrete in support of their claims, but it never happens. In one episode, they claim that the Knights Templars came to America in the 13th century, bringing with them treasure from Solomon's Temple. They craft elaborate graphics of castle foundations, supposedly taken by hi tech equipment. Then they have guys with metal detectors who claim that they have located 50 ounces of gold underground. Well, first of all 50 oz. of gold equates to about 3 lbs, which is not all that much; maybe enough to craft a small crown, but certainly not enough to represent the treasures of Solomon's Temple. Plus, needless to say, they never find or show you the gold !!!! On another episode, they find someone in Wisconsin who supposedly dug up a Viking sword. Needless to say, they don't focus the camera in on the sword very often, which is more the size and shape of a Civil War short sword than any Viking sword. Then they go to examine some 3 ton stone supposedly with runes on it, but when they get there, the stone has been stolen. This entire series is a waste of time and not unlike when Geraldo Rivera kept us waiting for hours to open a safe brought up from the Titanic, and when it was opened, there was nothing in it but rotting, soggy currency.
