The Worst Film Ever

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

That's basically the size of it. I don't know about you but I watch the show because I want to see contestants sing. I want to watch their story ark from start to stardom. But whoever's running the show seems to think that all that side story stuff and trying to tug on hartstrings is what brings the ratings and I think they've got it wrong. Sure we want some side story but it shouldn't be the main story. This is a singing competition not a 'who's had it the hardest' show. So far I've been pretty disappointed with how little singing I've seen. There were a lot of singers I wanted to see more of who they just glossed over or didn't show it all. Like what happened with Carley? I thought she was pretty rad but even if the show creators didn't think so, shouldn't they have shown us something of her Hollywood week performance? If they spent more time showing singers and less time shooting for zingers they could have showcased more talent. If this show doesn't change its format for the next season (if it gets a next season), I see no reason to expect it has a future. Too bad because it's a great concept. The creators need to take a cue from the judges: be yourself. When you try to be something you're not you won't be successful.

Sorry this show was an example on how stupid American's are. You loved Randy Jackson's limited vocabulary. You also stop voting for who was the best but who had the best sob story. This was suppose to be a singing show not a modern day version of "Queen for a Day". This show did produce some well known talent however I stop watching the year beat box boy kept beat boxing every song when the judges told him to stop, I think his name was Blake and after the show was over "So was his Career". If this show does return as promised I hope they get judges that know how to judge and know more than on noun!

Based on UK's singing competition Pop Idol, this long-running show is a talent contest consisting of 12 boys and 12 girls - all competing for the title of American Idol.The first eight seasons featured judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. They were undoubtedly the highlight of the show, from Simon's brutally honest persona to Paula's love-hate relationship with Simon. The bad auditions were also a highlight of the show, especially hearing the tone-death contestants trying to belt out a tune and those who believe they're natural-born talents but ending up falling flat on the notes.Some of the drama in the show were intense, especially Hollywood Week where contestants who passed round one needed to work with each other to sing for the judges. Overall, you get to see some really good talent here.However, the series went downhill after Simon left the show. New judge Steven Tyler was pretty creepy and Jennifer Lopez was ho-hum. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were OK (I actually thought their feud on set was quite entertaining), and Harry Connick Jr. tried too hard to be funny. Despite some of the talents out there, you could tell that some of the contestants acted like the show is more of a chance to have the "it factor" instead of exhibiting good singing.But overall, it's not a bad show - it just really ran its course and lost steam after about the ninth season.Grade B-

Now that they've whittled down American Idol to its essence: singing, everyone seems to hate it. What was once a mean and snickering collage of bad singers who thought they were good, funny looking people we could laugh at, and stupid Simon Cowell insults is now a study in the development of raw talent. Gone are the snickering insults and mocking, replaced with honest criticism and genuine talent. Everyone talks about living your dream and succeeding, but when people really realize their dream its "stupid" and "a joke" and "ridiculous." When I heard 16 year old Malaya Watson turn the Beatles standard "Long and Winding Road" into a soul ballade tour de force that would have made Whitney jealous, I melted in the presence of true artistry. What is more human than the emotional connection between a singer and her audience? For all those who find that stupid I have a show for you: "Naked and Afraid." I'd rather hear singing.
