    The Worst Film Ever

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

after reading others reviews it made me happy to know that I wasn't the only girl in my late twenties clearly not in high school anymore, not only watching this show but a fan of it as well lol! Anyways I seriously don't know how anyone watching an episode couldn't love it and relate to the characters or whatever's going on in some type of way. we've all been through high school, growing up and trying to find out what we wanna do with the rest of our lives and the type of person we wanna become. Even with the gazillion other teen drama shows before, none of them had been as realistic and true to the everyday life of young adults/high school teens as Awkward has. I think that's one of the reasons(besides the writing&actors obv) why it's so frigging funny and I'm literally dying while yelling at the TV through every episode cause it's actually believable to the point where you can think back and remember some sort of incident or memory of your own you had too growing up instead of the cookie cutter version of the teens lives your used to seeing on shows of these fairytale lives that always have a happy ending which we all know rarely ever happens and gives people this false sense of reality cause no ones perfect and life is hard which is another reason I love how much of a hot mess each character is in the show haha...def watch!

I don't know what to say about this series. It's by MTV so I guess their audience must be teenagers. Well if that's how teenagers should act then this only confirms why I don't like children and why I don't want any. The first seasons were okay when the main character Jenna Hamilton was the unpopular girl. Then it was watchable, but after she lost her virginity to the high school jock and her only reason to live was having sex then it quickly went downwards until it became unwatchable. The high rankings this show gets on IMDb must be from little girls in their puberty, that like to gossip, and like to fantasize about prince charming. In fact the kind of teens you hope you will never meet. Avoid at all costs!

The show starts with Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards) at 15 walking in the school hallway as the center of attention with an awkward cast. It's not the attention she was looking for. During summer camp, she lost her virginity to hunky Matty McKibben (Beau Mirchoff) in the utility closet but he wants to keep the hookup a secret. Her best friends are the talkative Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) and the not-so-Chinese Chinese friend Ming Huang (Jessica Lu). She receives a critical anonymous letter and blogs "Sometimes being a teenager makes you want to die." She accidentally chokes on aspirins, slips, falls and breaks a few bones. Soon, rumor spreads that she tried to kill herself. She gets picked on by rich cheerleader Sadie Saxton (Molly Tarlov) and dumb cheerleader Lissa (Greer Grammar). Incompetent guidance counselor Valerie Marks (Desi Lydic) and her parent Lacey (Nikki Deloach) and Kevin (Mike Faiola) are worry about her. At least McKibben's best friend Jake Rosati (Brett Davern) seems to be a nice guy. It's a snarky sarcastic teen dramedy. Jenna's narration sets the tone right off the bat. I love JRR's machine gun mouth. The overall group is a fun bunch of kids including a few hilarious adult characters. Desi Lydic is insane as the highly inappropriate guidance counselor who would rather be friends. It's better than most teen TV sitcoms relying on the comedy with plenty of sex drama.

Although I find this show refreshing, three girls who are trying to make it through high school together. Often girls are against each other in film and TV, but this show does show female relationships. It also shows a lot of different sides to different characters, it doesn't mind if we hate the good characters or love that bad characters. This show does skate around major issues, and always everything goes back to normal. If they truly wanted to make this show amazing, they wouldn't have been so quick to make sure everything works out. That being said, this is one of the few shows that I think somewhat properly shows teenagers, fully using social media, and not shying away of how jaded we are. I think this show has a lot of laughs, and mixes both light and dark humor flawlessly.
