Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I saw the entire first season and was fairly disappointed in the end. The story line doesn't develop in a pace and unified direction. Too many distractions and no thread to pull the plot thru the end. There are a couple of main underlying lines but the they don't develop coherently and lacks focus. Other than that I love the meticulous decor, wardrobe and sets. The acting is also very good. Its just not my taste in the end. No enough intrigue and mystery. lot of porn and edgy life styles in the 20's. One more thing, i don't know much about the 20's music, but I would bet the portrayal of music and dance in the night clubs are too strange and out of place for the period. it more felt like a David Lynch movie than historically accurate.

This is definately one of the best tv series I have watched in a long time. Set in pre-Nazi Berlin, it shows us a little about those obscure years between WWI and WWII in which Berlin was a liberal and vibrant city but where much was cooking in social an political terms. The acting is amazing, the plot is intriguing and the production is superb! I'm so thrilled to have found that more seasons are to come and so happy Germany is producing such great stuff.

An antidote for the banal violence written into American crime procedural and the like. BB's production values are stratospheric. The Weimar days in Berlin are captured with unerring authenticity. The acting is of the highest order. The script brims with suspense. I could go on... but in sum this is must-see picture making... outstanding.

This was a powerful, authentic feeling miniseries about Berlin just before "nightfall " in 1933. Very rich in characters, art direction and script, it was a tremendously compelling story. The ending was fitting and also powerful. Very highly recommended for anyone who enjoys an excellent historical story was told; much better than a "docudrama."
