One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

As a person who was born in Australia and spent all of my life here, all I have to say is that we should be ashamed of not supporting the first drama depicting colonization that even rates a mention. Even though indigenous Australians were not depicted in the first season, i'm sure they would have been included in the seasons to follow, if not I may have lost interest in this TV series but it was barely given a chance. One season is surely not enough time to introduce a foreign people the main characters know little about if you want to focus on their stories. This show was the first chance for the story of Australia to become known to the rest of the world, and now we will never know what the impact of that would have been.

Sat and watched this twice and still didn't really get it. I would like to have seen what each of them had done to be shipped out to Australia to give me a baseline.Didn't like Major Ross at all and most of his soldiers (or were they landlocked marines), projected an overstated arrogance that was difficult to stomach. If this is history then I quite understand why the Australian Government doesn't want people to emigrate unless they meet very strict criteria on skills. Seems a blacksmith is considered slightly more human.Buy season 2 if it ever appears. Nope!

Well what can I say about this new series? Awful, terrible or a waste of time? All of these descriptions are correct. I only managed to watch 2 episodes. It's historically inaccurate , cast is very small and acting is very bad. It is actually a very good idea for an historical costume drama but BBC got it very wrong this time. If anyone had read The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes, you would know that 25 lashes from a whip would render you bed bound for days, starvation and exhaustion would leave you no time for flirtations, marriage and love. The whole 2 episodes were about sexing up the show. Completely ridiculous! A shame really because it's a great idea for a series.

This sounded promising and so I began watching the first episode. I say 'began' because 15 minutes later, I'd switched off. Its truly one of the worst things I've seen aired. The characterization is hollow and, whilst Jimmy is a good earthy writer, his style of prosaic musings doesn't work here. The dialogue is stilted and the acting truly bad. Its miscast as one can see when a 20 something with highlights drifts past in her gown as though getting ready for a commercial for shampoo. The flogging scene was utter tosh. Badly scripted and offering no realism. Actually, its almost an insult to the intelligence of the viewer to air nonsense like this. Lets leave the historical accounts of this episode of history to those who know something about casting, filming, direction et cetera. The script is not worthy of a first year creative writing student ( they'd get a D...) its contrived and sheer unadulterated hogwash of the most boring kind.
