Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
View MoreIt's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

View MoreAfter nine episodes -- I can't believe I watched the whole thing, but I just wanted to find out how it would end -- you find out it simply goes nowhere, except for a few bizarre and pointless tangents that completely bloat out the last couple penultimate episodes.I could perhaps live with the total abandonment of the actual history of this campaign, but I can't forgive the pathetic plot.Reminds me of the latest season of The Vikings in its over-the-top drama but narrative pointlessness. But at least with Vikings we got some fairly decent entertainment out of the first few seasons, before the writers jumped the shark there. Here, they go for the camp by maybe the fourth episode, with it completely snowballing by the 7th or 8th?
View MoreI feel compelled to write a review to help counter all of the foolish reviews of this series. I began episode one by agreeing with all of the people upset with the a-historicity of the show. Fortunately, they put it right up front so that you don't waste too much time worrying that they're historically illiterate and, unless you are the title of a Jethro Tull song, you soon realize that they are just using setting and character types to shorthand a fantasy story with some familiarity so that the writers don't have to waste a lot of time building up their fantasy world. The key to this series, as it is for all entertainment are the characters and the human interaction. The characters, once you take time to notice them are excellent and the acting is wonderful overall. It is a rollicking good story and I hope there will be a season two and more because I'm eagerly awaiting it. Refer to "basilisksamuk" for anything else I might want to say about this except that the interactions between Nikolaj Lie Kass and Eleanor Worthington-Cox make it all worthwhile. Just good fun.
View MoreSome of these bad reviews are hilarious. "It's so historically inaccurate!" "They didn't even go into the tribal history!" "They used modern words!" Everyone is a scholar on IMDB, huh? Well let me just clarify for those negative reviews; all of the curse words you use now have been in rotation for centuries, maybe not as curse words. The series makes a huge point that is pretty much centered around the tribal in fighting of the celts. Historically accurate? Really? So how much do we actually know about Britannia at this time? This was before the first runes were even recorded, 200 years before, there is any proof of them existing. The "reality" is we don't really know enough about this time or this people to even claim that. We simply don't know. All we know of the Celts is what the Romans wrote for us. And the few murky artifacts we dug up, that we can make hypothesis with. It's a fantasy show based on an actual people and land, and partly based on historical fact. This IS NOT a docuseries, to educate you about the celts and Romans. I think the problem is that people don't read anymore, so they expect tv and movies to educate them, because it's all they have, or know about. Ok, so if you're not expecting this to help you be a historian, it's a really good show. Sure some artistic license is taken. Enough for it to be called a "fantasy" show. I really resent the right wing jerk offs who are like " this is a feminist power show!" The Celts were one of the only ancient people who were ruled by women and also had their women fight with them on the battlefield. Women could be tribal leaders, and Queens and always led the tribes as far as spiritually. That is historically accurate you sexist pigs. So try to come and relax and enjoy and I think you'll find the acting is superior, the sets and costumes beautiful, and the script is great too. It runs the gamut. From cruel violence to laugh out loud comedic turns. The Prince of the Cantu in particular with his Onya goddess and the AWOL Roman soldiers made me laugh so hard. It's a great show. For what it is. Entertainment.
View MoreThe Donovan track over the opening credits tell you everything you need to know. It's a psychedelic journey through Celtic Britain, wonderful cast, Morrisey especially good, as is the hypnotic Kelly Rilley. The script is far more subtle than you first notice, this is not GOT, and thank god for that. You want historical accuracy? Look elsewhere, this is a beautifully shot dreamscape, jump on in.
