    Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

One of the most underrated TV shows out there. Buffy changes in tone with each season, always keeping the viewer on their toes. This show is also smarter than it is credited. Many episodes deal with the psychological traumas many teens face in high school, and how they cope with growing up the way they are expected to be, the social norm. Buffy & Angel's romance is still one of the best love story's of television history. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is at the top of many's list of best TV series of the 90's and early 2000's, and remains a classsic and undated story.

Buffy the vampire slayer was a huge hit , all of my high school friends were in love with it . What is cooler than a feisty girl who is very strong ( physically at least ) and kills demons ? well , to start a normal human girl with normal human body who is strong, is stronger than a super natural being. Buffy is not a feminist icon because she is not a normal girl. It is already established ( and emphasized on again and again ) that she is stronger than demons and vampires. So we do not have an every day girl fighting through hell to come out strong and victorious we have a psychotic teen with huge emotional issues throwing punches and killing stuff. That being said the main character of the show is so unlikable , she treats others like dirt , constantly whines and her only response to most of her problems is punching it, well excuse me but how is she any different from a lets see... a thug ? other characters compete in order to be the whiny est , , most unlikable beings who have plagued TV, while Xander is forgettable Willow is shallow and Cordelia is just another stereotypical social shark. Vamps are even worse Angel/Angelous is comical , Dru and Darla are just eye candy ( well male viewers like to see female vamps acting all seducing )and Spike... poor Spike who had the potential to be the coolest greatest anti hero /evil of the vamp race is transformed to a love sick puppy who only wants to get in Buffy's pants and receives huge beatings in the process. Did i mention that hundred year old vampires in this show die like total bitches ? yeah they do apparently even though it is established that older vampires are very strong but no problem not only Buffy can take them out other regular humans can punch them and kill them as well. Did i mention that vampires are all students of Kung foo in this universe? well they are and instead of ripping peoples throat out they prefer to punch them. I don't want to be a nit picking ungrateful viewer but creating a TV show needs talent, real characters development ( not just dating and breaking up), coherent story that makes actual sense throwing punches and staking the big bad's is not enough .

I'm a fan of this amazing show. Totally. When it first aired I thought, meh, the movie Buffy back when was kinda funny, let's give this a try. Maybe one or two episodes. Could be fun. Just for laughs. Then I saw the teaser opening of the pilot episode. It felt like I was hit in the face, for I hadn't seen that coming. I became interested and decided to watch the entire episode.I got to meet Buffy Summers, Xander Harris, Willow Rosenberg, Rupert Giles, Cordelia Chase, their friends, enemies and the people of Sunnydale. I became hooked. This show had a grip on me that until now only happened with the original Star Trek, so it was something that rare. And the latter was for me the beginning of the 70s when that first aired in the Low Countries. A once in a generation TV show. Pun intended. There was comedy, drama, horror, a touch of Sci Fi, a lot of fantasy in a delightful cocktail brought to us by the genius of Mister Joss Whedon and his team.My advise: WATCH this show, take that ride and be sure to also watch the companion / spin-off show 'Angel'. It enriched my life and I'm very glad I got to experience it.
