Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

It's the year 2007 (start of the show), but apart from the gadgets (and maybe some clothes) this show feels very much like it still is the 80s. Now why would I say that and is it a bad thing? Not necessarily concerning the latter and I say it, because while it does become "serialized" (as the people involved say themselves on the discs) towards the end, especially the beginning feels like a crime of the week thing.Now if that is your thing, then obviously you are right here. And let me tell you, it is very difficult to dislike the characters or the actors behind them. The show is held very light and it held up for 7 seasons. Something not many shows can add to their badge. But it also starts dragging. Which brings us back to the point I was making: The show does not work as good if you binge watch (that is watch as many episodes as possible back to back).One thing that does work and holds up almost during the complete run of the show, is the fact that while Westen (Donovan) is trying to find things out or get back into the game, there are always side missions. Which are a good distraction, but also add to the feeling of "baddie/crime" of the week vibe.You have a lot of guest stars and some who are coming back too (mostly re-introduced for those who either forgot or those new to watching). There is as with many shows not the immediate danger you feel for those involved, unlike let's say what 24 achieved in doing, where you knew only Jack Bauer was "untouchable". But again, this is a much lighter affair, where even in the most dangerous situation you'll have the main characters making a joke.Getting Renny Harlin to direct a couple of episodes from a certain point helped the show too. But I think both parties profited from that connection. It is what it is and you'll either love it or wish it was more coherent and had more flesh on its bones ... Matter of perspective

Everybody knows that Burn Notice was a legend. All I can say is that i love everything about it and i'm really sorry that ended at the 8th season. I think there are a lot like me, that wished at least a continuation or a movie. It was spectacular and brilliant and smart and mysterious everything at Burn Notice. I hope that, maybe, in the future the scenarist will think seriously doing a continuation with Jeffrey and Gabrielle and Bruce. They are a great team in Burn Notice. I guess they can be elected in the future projects without any regrets or hesitations. They are the best actors. They are emotionals and mysterious and tough and really great actors. So, I hope i will see them, of course, together in a movie or in a TV series.

Which is a comment you will seldom find in my reviews.First of all, the concept. The whole idea of a "burn notice" forcing a spy to take roots in a community is very clever. Really.And the casting. I call this "Leprechaun Casting" because Donovan's career both before and even after the show was unspectacular. But in this part, in a successful series which ran for years, he was nothing less than brilliant. Almost as though elves pulled him out nowhere just for this role, and then disappeared into the forest with him after.The setting is also clever, relying on an old Hollywood adage which says, to improve your odds, cast in a city that people wish they lived in. Check.Even the voice-over works and works well. Voice-over seems like an easy thing to pull off, but in fact it isn't. Which is why it dropped out of favor in the 1940s and has been used very sparingly ever since.Estrogen content? Check. Gabrielle Anwar, in a part which really is more a sidekick than a love interest, manages to "sashay" between scenes (yet another word I do not use often) and also manages to give the impression that she is on "slow simmer" even when all she is doing is mixing explosives or hot-wiring a car. (If you are a male reader, you will get that.) Supporting cast? Bruce Campbell plays his role like he was already happily retired and the casting director begged him to come out of retirement just for this part, and then gave him permission to sit down and drink while delivering his lines. (Which may be the way it actually happened, I don't know).I will confess it took about three episodes for me to get hooked. Like I said off the top, this is a one of a kind. But it is a fun ride.

I started out being unsure but after a few episodes it was good.The mixture of comedy moments when they perform some miracle revenge act on a drug dealer or bad character made it refreshing. This meant you didn't have to take it all too seriously.I found the plot involving Anson Fullerton added some great twists, I won't spoil them for future viewers.Sadly the latest season is driving me insane, mainly with Michael's Mum. We keep seeing her crying and moaning about Michael claiming she want's to know who he is dealing with.Maddy's obsession with her Grandson is nauseous and basically it ruins almost every episode. She claims she will deal with matters but she just keeps running off at the mouth and then apologising.Seriously the writers need to give her a back seat role similar to the one she had in previous seasons. Just bring her in when dinner needs making and leave her out of the main plot.
