The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Mindless, ignorant, and casually racist, this is the lazy product of a creative team who had nearly all the ingredients needed to make a superb adventure series; good budget, good locations, good cast - but zero imagination. The vapid, inane storylines seem to have been an inconvenient afterthought. A vague concept for globe-hopping Indiana Jones-styled adventures leads predictably and inevitably to an irritating series of clichés and tired old tropes, hacked together with minimal thought or care. The archaeological practices would be laughable if they weren't so painful to watch - and utterly unbelievable, even with the suspension of disbelief one willingly adopts for the genre - but one can only go so far with that! The dialogue is truly atrocious; embarrassingly bad, and the performances from a talented cast suffer as a result. Even the greatest actor needs at least semi-decent material with which to work. This is like a bigger budget and more technically competent version of "Bonekickers" - that unwatchable atrocity perpetrated by the BBC a few years back. The former was bad in literally every imaginable way. "Hooten & The Lady" is bad in almost every way, except that it is slicker and more expensive. But that's not enough to make it watchable, unless you completely switch your mind off. And that's not a thing I was either willing or able to do.The best thing about it is that it was cancelled after only eight episodes.

So far, this has been a reasonably entertaining story line. I find it reminiscent of "Romancing the Stone" with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. The characters are entertaining and the action is fast paced. It seems that Hooten is continually forced to extricate either himself or the Lady from some predicament. The chemistry is building, though still somewhat short of expectations.

It a refreshing comedy adventurous show. It reminds me of Robert Wagner's "Hart To Hart" but much better writing and production. I remember Ms. Ophelia from "Elementary" she looks a little more mature yet still a very attractive actress. I like the location shots and the photography. I would hope it is renewed for additional seasons.

I'm willing to watch commercials for this show. I've never felt that about any show. A real fan will put up with commercials because they know what pays for good product and thank the advertiser by buying their products. It would be good with some product placement, especially if it helps the plot and makes it fun to watch. The 'lady' plays well in 'Elementary' (USA Sherlock). A 9, because it is not offered in USA and will take too long for season 2
