Very Cool!!!
A Major Disappointment
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

View MoreI love this show, a lot. It's unlike ANYTHING I've ever seen on Nickelodeon. We've had some good shows on Nickelodeon over the years like My Life As A Teenage Robot, Avatar, Hey Arnold, etc. But I have never seen a show from Nickelodeon that has become a huge cult classic. This show is deliciously dark for a Nickelodeon show. And some of the scenes from this show still shock me to this day because they seem like things that wouldn't get past the censors. The show is also really funny. I've always liked Jhonen Vasquez's twisted sense of humour. And it works really well here. Main highlights from the show are: ZIM yelling ''Your lying!'' over and over, GIR saying things that are so random that it comes across as cute and funny, the dark settings, Bloody GIR being hidden in different frames throughout the show, there are so many highlights here I can't even say all of them, you really have to watch it yourself to understand what I'm talking about. But still, I enjoy this show. And that enjoyment is mainly made out of me laughing and being disturbed by this show. Make no mistake, it's the darkest Nickelodeon show ever created as well as the most disturbing. But there is plenty of humour in the show to balance out the darkness. Great show all round. Not the best cartoon of all time, but definitely Nickelodeon's best.
View MoreExtremely surprised by the praise this show gets. It's not horrendous or anything. I even bought Season 2 of this show back when I was in 6th Grade (2006)Now it seems this show doesn't age very well. Number one reason being that only about 20 or so episodes of Invader Zim were ever made and seeing the same episodes on rotate, again and again really gets annoying after awhile. The plot is this. Zim and Gir are sent on a mission by the Irks (a race of aliens) to take over Planet Earth. A very simple premise, fine and dandy.Zim (the main character) doesn't know how to keep his damn mouth shut for more than five seconds and his arch-rival Dib, isn't that much better with trying to the prove the existence of aliens in...oh I don't know in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. It's a washed out formula that gets on my nerves. The only episode I honestly I ever really cared for was the "Mysterious Mysteries" episode with Kevin Michael Ricardson trying to bring some life in his dying TV program and the flying squirrel eating Dib's head (in Gir's imagination) was hilarious. But that's my ten cents as far as I'm concerned with this cartoon and I'm sticking with it.
View MoreThis show is basically about a little alien banished from his home planet, Irk, because he almost destroyed it in Mission Impending Doom. So, he gets banished to planet Foodcourtia to spend his days as a fry cook, but "quits being banished" when he hears that the Almighty Tallest (the leaders of Irk) are assigning Irken soldiers to observe various planets. Zim begs them, and they assign him to a mysterious planet called Earth. There, Zim tries to fit in with all the other humans at Skool (literally, that's how they spell it.) He has a robot dog named Gir, which is an idiot, but he fits in well with the plot.Anyways, no one suspects that Zim is an alien, except for a large-headed kid named Dib. Dib is the lunatic in the show, as his classmates make him seem, but in reality, he's the only sane one. He sees through Zim's terrible disguise, and starts to follow him around everywhere (he's a paranormal investigator). Dib has a scary sister named Gaz that is really into video games, rubber pigs, and pizza. She tries to not care too much about anything else. Now for the review!Well, I watched this show when I was younger, back in 2003-2006. (I was 6 years old when I last saw this on TV.) Anyways, I always thought something was strange about this show. I didn't know if it was the red skies, or how creepy Ms. Bitters was, or the harvesting of organs in one of the episodes, but this show just seemed very odd.I watched it again (now I'm 15, almost 16) and in my opinion, I find it kinda enjoyable to watch. There's a bunch of dark humor mixed in with violence and stupidness. It's a show that's hard to resist, despite your age. Zim overreacts to most situations, which is hilarious, knowing that he's on a completely different planet, and doesn't know what to expect. So, as I was saying, "dark humor." Some of the episodes could get pretty disturbing, such as "Dark Harvest," or "Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy." People either die or suffer. Yet, this show was on Nickelodeon. Teehee.IZ has incredible voice actors such as Richard Horvitz (Zim), who could make Zim seem adorable to evil in a split second. Zim's evil laugh is amazing too.Overall, I enjoyed this show when I was younger, and I still enjoy it today. I have no idea how I remembered this show from when I was 5 years old, but whatever! I love it! I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind a little dark humor.
View MoreI discovered this show on Netflix a few months ago and after watching the first episode, I was hooked! I love absolutely everything about this show: the characters, the animation, the stories, the humor, and the portrayal of school systems and human society. All the characters seem to have something going for them. There are many reasons for you to laugh at and enjoy them: Zim's incompetence, Dib's logic, Gir's pure stupidity and adorableness, Gaz's fury, and Ms. Bitter's undeniably evil disposition. They are all likable in their own way.The animation is great! The CGI and cartoon animation blend very well together; in fact, the CGI never seems to look out of place. The stories are very creative, and surprisingly elaborate, though they are still easy to follow. Whenever I watch an episode, I actually feel excited about what will happen next. One of the main reasons I am very upset that the show is not on anymore is because I want to see more stories about Zim's evil schemes and strange occurrences in his world. The humor is the perfect blend of light-hearted and dark. Much of the humor can get dark, but that's what makes it so great! Even when it isn't dark, it is still so clever and funny in every way. I am not kidding when I say that I laugh so hard every time I watch this show.I love how human society is portrayed in this show. Everyone except some of the main characters seem to be totally oblivious to many of the strange events that take place in Zim's wake. I also love how the public settings, like the school and fast food restaurants are drawn: dirty, grungy, slimy, and smelly. I think this is very accurate, since most of those fast food restaurants in real life are pretty nasty. The school in the show (or "Skool," as it is spelled on the sign in the front) is very close to how the schools in this country run. For example, in the episode where the school needs a new class president, the old class president is practically arrested for saying something negative about the school. This is pretty close to how seriously school spirit is taken sometimes, and I laughed pretty hard when I saw it.In summation, this show is pure GOLD; no exaggeration. Everything about it is so funny, dark, charming, and engaging. If more cartoons were something like Invader Zim, the world would be a better place.
