A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action

    Brendon Jones

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

...it seems some people are comparing this to "Attack on Titan". That's just wrong. This show is, at best, an extremely weak attempt to do something similar. But failing. Miserably. The protagonist is your run of the mill, screaming-at-any-and-all-injustice cliche anime hero. No matter how many times he gets told to put a cork in it or literally gets knocked out, he just keeps going for it. The story gets more boring every episode, the villain is beyond ridiculous (basically he's a pink haired emo samurai with lame daddy issues) and the ending is nonsensical to the point where it feels like it must be a joke. Avoid, it's not hard to find a better anime to watch. At all.

If you like poor writing, idiotic characters, implausible and copied plots (Yes, this does try to copy Attack on Titan), then this is the show for you! We have a lead character who is just implausibly stupid (I'm gonna test my gun instead of trying to flee the city.) As if the iron zombies are in short supply.... Then we get a 12 year old bi-polar ninja girl, and an antagonist who commits mass genocides for no real reason. No one trusts our Green haired protagonist until episode 4, despite him meeting all their demands and saving them several times. We are also forced to deal with a Steampunk element that is overplayed and uninteresting, especially in this world of over- used tropes (including Zombies! We don't have enough shows with zombies!) Want a shitty gore fest till something decent comes on? Then this 4hr season will kill your time and IQ.

This anime have something that interested me when i first saw the trailer, first of all is the Character design. it was created by Haruhiko Mikimoto (anime such as Macross, Gunbuster, Gundam War in The Pocket) Because of that Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress stands out different and proud than any other anime at this timeSecondly, this anime was created by the same studio, same director, and composer who did the Attack on Titan 3 years ago.As the results, even now Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress is gaining popularity so fast on its Twitter account (already gained 61.600 follower) since 6th episode aired.I cannot review the final score for now, but i can give you just numbers, to get the idea on how great this anime is,EPISODE score : ep 1 : 8/10 ep 2 : 9/10 ep 3 : 8.5/10 ep 4 : 10/10 - END OF PROLOUGE - ep 5 : 9/10 ep 6 : 15/10 - Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Maybe i am overrated, but i believe it is true for many new anime watchers, especially for a 15 years old teenagers who loved action packed story with strong character such as Mumei, killing zombies on train.Yes, Train combined with steam punk samurai settings is the main reason why this anime is interesting almost for everyone. even my 72 years old dad could enjoy it with me.Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress story and plot is pretty much happening inside the train, which makes it very ideal for high speed fighting entertainment. and the characters also seems to be the big reason why people hooked on the story. By the end of episode 6 i really enjoyed how the character developing with each other, almost all the characters in this anime have their own charisma and appeal for everyone.Even if the story puzzle and questions did not answered by the end of episode 6, i am sure most of it will be answered when it reached episode 8, and everything will go south and plot intensifies starting from episode 9 to 12 (the final episode).i hope this review meant something for everyone. thank you for reading my review!ROKKON SHOJO!

This anime has exceeded my expectations the first episode (spoiler free) is 10 times better than attack on titan's first season altogether, we are introduced to a great variety of characters at the start- Mumei, Ikoma, Yukima, Sukari and a lots of other characters at the start first of all Ikoma is way more intriguing than eren yaeger but anyways on to the important stuff, there is some sort of apocalypse going on during and industrial revolution, you aren't given any explanations about how it started but all you know is that the creatures are called kabane (zombie like creatures) and they can only be killed by piercing their heart, as for the survivors, they all live in big walled cities called stations, the only way in and out is by armored trains which look awesome, Ikoma is working on a special weapon which he believes kills the kabane easily and one day his skills are put to the test when the kabane invade the station, I'm not going to say anything else, just watch it, I guarantee you will love it after the first episode.
