    Very well executed

    Softwing

Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

    Gutsycurene

Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Josh (Jay Baruchel) has had struggles with dating for quite some time but now his tribulations are close to the end when he meets Lucy (Katie Findlay). At first, Josh and Lucy's relationship does not go smoothly with Lucy's roommate bringing out the border patrol and arguing on national news about boyfriend's sleeping over. Lucy decides to move in with Josh but not before a major remodel to impress her friends. Despite the bumpy beginning, Josh and Lucy get serious and Lucy has to go through a serious of training in order to meet Josh's mom Patti (Robin Duke) and stepdad Tom (Mark McKinney) with the help of Josh's sister Liz (Britt Lower). Mike (Eric Andre) does not approve of Josh's new girl at first as he no longer has time to hang out anymore. Mike starts a cult that is for guys only, but when Lucy sneaks Josh has to intervene. He arranges for all of them to hang out in a boring mine bar that traps Mike and Lucy together with miners. Eventually, Mike approves of Lucy, and it's Josh's turn to meet Lucy's parents. Lucy didn't always have the greatest relationship so is upset when Josh hits it off with Lucy's Mom (Julie White) and Dad (Mark Moses). Check out more of this review and others at swilliky.com

If you were able to watch Monty Python Flying Circus, you'll be able to enjoy this one to. A lot of absurdity, but in a good way. But it takes some adjusting to it.. You might get offended here and there.. wandering if they didn't took it too far. This is why, it's better to watch in a company. Also, watching it alone might make you miss a thing or two while laughing or simply because too much is going on.For my personal taste: It would be much, much better if less time would be given to special effects and more effort to dialog's and characters to evolve. But then it wouldn't be what it is now.I like the not so subtle critique of modern society.. I was able to survive majority of the things shown in the series.. and it's refreshing that someone else is able to see that in an absurd, comic way.

The main character of the show is a young man whose girlfriend broke up with him. He is sad and still likes her and his trying to get out there to meet other women. There is also his best friend and his sister who help him out when he needs advice. He has some issues with his sister because he can't find a proper job and she is very successful. What sets this show apart from others is that there are surrealistic elements in there (if only it wasn't done so poorly). So the events don't necessarily happen the way they are portrayed. There is for example one scene where his blind date is portrayed as an actual troll. I found this to be very demeaning to women. Everybody had a date in his life who he/she didn't find attractive. But normal people just keep being nice to avoid hurting the others feeling and don't make a second date, and maybe you have a good time anyway. The main character insults the woman and ends the date. I know that this isn't intended to be taken as what literally happened. It is one of these surrealistic scenes which are meant to describe how he felt and he probably didn't really insult her. But at that point I had literally no sympathy left for the character. He behaves like a ten year old and is completely egocentric. There was another surrealistic scene where the new boyfriend of his ex is portrayed as Adolf Hitler. I know it is a common phenomenon that one redirects the anger over the breakup and the hurt feelings toward the new boyfriend but he doesn't seem to be aware of that. He keeps behaving like an 10 year old whose candy has been stolen and gets thrown out of the party after an insult. Yes I know that this didn't happen the way it was portrayed but they are making their character unlikeable. This is one of the shows that desperately try to make pseudo intelligent references to pop culture to appeal to the younger crowd. The awful references all the time make the show painful to watch. Not that I don't like a reference once in a while (ore twice) but this show seems to be only about those (poorly executed) references. Even if I put all these criticisms aside there is nothing done well in this show. The humor is just stupid and childish e.g. there is a joke about a man who has to go to the toilet and then makes a mess... thank god they didn't actually show that. Another reviewer wrote that older people don't get the humor but I don't think that is the main problem (btw I am 26). The main problem is that the story itself isn't worth watching and was literally done 1000 times before and to spice it up they brought in some "creative" elements which don't really fit well in the narrative. So in conclusion the show is about a pathetic unlikeable person who tries, with the help of his generic "funny" cool friend and his blend sister, to meet women and who will most times fail at it. (just my suspicion)

Let me start by saying that I believe most people that review are those on opposite ends of the spectrum. If something is outstanding, be it television (Peaky Blinders or movies (I recently watched Shakesperare in Love and Haider) I feel obligated to right a review. If something is terrible (Any of the Hunger Games) I feel obliged to right a review. If it's a show or movie that I think is entertaining enough for me to tune in on a regular basis (Elementary, Misfits started out fantastic and faded to this category) I tend to not waste my time. Well, as you can tell by my header, I think this show is awesome. Going in the only thing I knew was that James Franco's younger brother was supposed to be the lead before Jay B took over which is cool because I am a fan of Jay's work...especially She's Out of My League (The female leads body is nothing short of spectacular) Back to the topic at hand. What this show does and how it does it is just outstanding...witty, clever and intriguing; I catch myself half smirking...half laughing often as a result of having been through what he's been through and felt what is so wonderfully captured in the quirky way the show shows us what it's like when we break up with someone. I love it. Do yourself a favor and check it out yourself. Yo won't be sorry.
