Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

This show is one of the best murder-series I have seen in a long time. I actually like it better then the series with Miss Marple with which it has been compared because there always seems to be a kind of contact with the viewer. Especially Jack Robinson makes remarks like if he is aware of the viewer which gives it an extra kind of fun. I also like, as others have said the big role for World War One in the series which must indeed have had a great impact on society. At last I really liked the surviving attitude Miss Fisher has with morals people in modern ages could learn from. It is not a show settled in the twenties but a show bridging the twenties to our modern time in a pleasant ironic way. I hope there will after all be a fourth series.

"Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" is an Australian production starring the fabulous Essie Davis as Phryne Fisher, a glamorous '20s amateur detective, as well as an outrageous flirt. Nathan Page plays the attractive inspector, John "Jack" Robinson, who works with Phryne whether he likes it or not. Lots of chemistry there, too, as their relationship heads toward something deeper.Phryne has all sorts of adventures, and has no problem posing a a fan dancer, circus performer, film director, magician's assistant, you name it. In the book, Phryne is the mistress of the very handsome Lin Chung, but he only appears in a few episodes, leaving room for other romances. This is a very expensive series, and it shows - something like $1 million per episode. Essie Davis' wardrobe is nothing short of spectacular. There have been complaints from people who have read the books, but apparently the author was involved in these scripts. Transferring print to film is difficult - also I guess the Fisher mysteries are short stories - so the scripts have to have elements added.Good mysteries, gorgeous to look at, wonderful performances - this is a top show not to be missed for lovers of mystery, the era of the '20s, and independent, modern-thinking women.

Intriguing character relationships, absolutely fantastic costume designs. Although a murder series, you're not really exposed to the violence leading up to the act. Sexual innuendo is not in your face and no vulgar language. All in all a show that is great for family viewing. Too many TV shows are far too sexual, far too demoralizing for the family and use far too much vulgar language and innuendo. Hoping this will be a very very long running show.Reminiscent of shows like Bones, Murdoch Mysteries, Murder She Wrote and a few other BBC shows, sadly which some have been cancelled in favor of non family friendly television shows. Let's hope the big TV moguls learn that most viewers want decent TV programming.

Recently found this show on Netflix and it has made me a total addict. The cast, costumes and the period settings are superb. I also love the variety of settings in each story line - from circuses to factories to beaches. As for Ms Fisher and the Inspector - well I can't wait for their scenes together, and for their story line to develop. Above all else the show stands out for making ms fisher a truly liberated woman of her times, without compromising on her feminine charms. Essie Davis and the restrained acting from the Inspector are priceless. I am still in season one and am rationing how much I see each week as I don't want it to end. This show is Great help in my withdrawal symptoms from Downtown Abbey!
