just watch it!
It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
View MoreThere is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
View MoreWhen I found out about Mrs Browns Boys, was a few years back. I saw a scene of Christmas Special. The spray glue scene... with Winnie. "I can explain this... !!!" I was howling of laughter. I did some digging and after that had to get the episodes. They were all worth it. Even the overall idea, man dressed as a woman, all indoor studio sitcom. The jokes, some not the freshest ones. But, how it is put together, and done. The cast. I just loved it. And the series also can handle some serious topics as well. Not losing the lighter side of things, and ridiculing topics. This is something that hit my sense of humor completely. Loved it all the way.
View MoreSo glad I stumbled upon this show through a friend. It has to be the funniest show I've ever seen! Crude, yes..not PC, definitely..possibly offensive, always..but side-splittingly funny! I've turned both of my sister's on to this show and we are hooked. I don't remember ever wanting to watch a sitcom episode more than once in such a short period of time, but the first time we watched Series One, we watched it about three times in a span of two days. Too funny! Even when we knew when the punchline was coming, we STILL laughed out loud. Brendan O'Carroll is brilliant, as is the rest of the cast. I love the "old school" comedy charm and tone, with the "bite" of crude humor. Makes it fun and edgy, and completely entertaining. I'm impatiently waiting for Series Four. Thank you for the laughs, Brendan and company! Jo
View MoreOh dear. The BBC's grasp of comedy again baffles me and it's no wonder ITV have decided to try and do sitcoms again if this is all they have to beat. With 'Me and Mrs Jones' getting commissioned with great fanfare only to flop it's no wonder that this show makes it into a 3rd series.Strangely this show is popular and wins awards but then again so did Benedorm and that wasn't much better. But this show entertains people and in these tough times that's all that matters. Comedy is subjective. However in years to come when you look through the greatest all-time sitcoms a certain Mrs Brown will not be on the list.
View MoreThis is what American comedy $#*! My Dad Says could have been had it been Irish, or had it been picked up by uncensored American TV like HBO or SHO instead of frumpy CBS. The formula is similar...eccentric elderly parent with razor-sharp profane wit combines the best of intentions with relentless meddling when dealing with her offspring in Dublin.Justin Halpern's real life Dad, the man who inspired the famous Twitter feed upon which $#*! My Dad Says was based, was as brilliantly profane as Mrs. Brown (the genius Brendan O'Carroll). This delightful combination of farce and family dysfunction could very well have been called "Sh*te Me Mam Says" because of its hundreds of thousands of quotables per episode! In the pilot alone, there are numerous moments of pure glee (the argument between Mammy and daughter Cathy (Jennifer Gibney) about whether name badges are necessary during a family counseling session had me busting my guts!) This series seamlessly combines real family story plots (illiteracy, marital woes, etc.) with a sweetly effective refusal to take its own self seriously (bloopers left in the show, which is taped before a live crowd) and pure hilarity (a famous Tom Jones song and a very...ahem...X Rated balloon at a hen party). This is what comedy is all about. Real life is a farce and a family. American networks should sit up and watch. Put up family advisories, don't censor the F word.
