When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
View MoreThis is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
View MoreStrong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
View MoreLow-life Earl Hickey (Jason Lee) buys a winning lottery ticket but loses it when he gets hit by a car. While hospitalized, an simplistic TV explanation leads Earl to realize that his bad luck is the result of bad Karma. He decides to write down all the wrongs that he's ever done to others and make amends to them. Randy Hickey (Ethan Suplee) is his brother. His ex-wife Joy (Jaime Pressly) has remarried to Darnell Turner (Eddie Steeples) who works the local bar with waitress Catalina (Nadine Velazquez).Earl Hickey and his friends are all trailer park trash. The list and his efforts form a solid basis for each episode. But it's the wacky group of family and friends that makes the show so great. Although they aren't the smartest group or the most wholesome, their bungling ways somehow changes things mostly for the better. It's a great idea which is elevated by the wacky fun characters.
View MoreI have to be honest that I really thought this was just some stupid show about some trashy hillbillies that was just designed to make fun of how stupid they are upon first impression. Then I got the plot of the show and watched a whole episode. Then I watched another. Then I realized this was a very thought provoking show that had a much deeper well thought out plot than you realize until you actually watch it. It is extremely well written with a good back story that keeps developing as the show progresses. The humor in it is sometimes in your face and at other times subtle but at all times well thought out. This show is not your typical stupid sitcom, it actually has good life lessons as well as great humor. And the characters are relatable. There is at least one character {in most cases more than one} that we can all relate to and a lot times we see ourselves or someone we know in one or more of the characters. That's what makes a great show or movie in my opinion. The show is best watched if you start from the first episode and work forward to get the most value but you can watch the show out of sequence and still enjoy it. I am an intelligent well educated man that is very critical of what I watch. I don't like reality TV shows or shows like Springer so it does take some work to impress me. This show is one of my all time favorites and I hope they revive it someday because NBC blew it when they cancelled this one. It's destined to be a classic that will have many people watching the re-runs for years.
View MoreI religiously watched two and a half men but it has gotten too raunchy for my kids. We love my name is earl. With FOX playing reruns I think that it has created more fans. It maybe smart to pick this one up. From the reviews I really think it could be successful. Give it a try. Please bring it back. Please. If not the need to come up with something because Abc has got some really great shows. It doesn't hurt to try. That network canceled it they maybe willing to sell the rights to it. Like some said the only problem I have with show is it was canceled too soon. My whole family loves it. Please try to bring it back to life. Adding it to the Monday night line up would only help ratings. Again it is down right funny yet family appropriate with the exception of a few episodes.
View MoreAfter I couldn't ignore the hype about the show, I started watching season one and it struck me as really good and I was hooked.... for about 5 episodes, then it started to spiral downwards. Why? First, Ethan Suplee is scripted to act as a complete idiot confirming that very obviously by spewing out semi-random stuff in great expectations of it somehow becoming the next best joke.Jaime Pressly's got stunning looks, but if she thinks stretching lips to explore parts of the face to which they normally never go to and making strange grimaces to accentuate everything she says is hilarious, she's way off track. Maybe she thought her character would be too flat, faded and she wanted to make it colorful and spicy, but made a flood of colors, overkill of spices and screams out loud for attention and it hurts my eyes, ears and intellect.I really, really wanted to love this show, like I said, the premise is great, (comes from the same shelf as The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain) and Jason Lee is doing a pretty good job here, along with some of the other actors but there is no way no how I would get 'sucked in' and forget that this is just a show, because Pressly's and Suplee's surreal, extreme characters abruptly wake me when they show up. It's worth to note that their characters and acting would be fine if this wasn't a 70 something-part series and if they didn't get that much screen time.
