View MoreIt's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
View MoreOne prime-time season on NBC's Tuesday night lineup was deadly poison for the "Saved by the Bell" series sequel. The prime characters from the precursor (Mark Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen) do indeed go to college but have not really grown up or matured much. They still do their tiring routines in a different location and with different supporting cast members. The substance here just does not translate into night-time network viewing. The lack of depth or complexity to the characters and situations is much more apparent as the core performers have finally out-grown their childish roles. The once cute routines border on being down-right annoying and totally unwanted. Mercifully died after 23 episodes. 2 stars out of 5.
View MoreThis conversion from the hit high school series to the college years was a great idea! For one, there aren't very many tv shows exclusively for college dorm room settings. And for two, it also had a more grown up storyline than the high school series. The ppl who went to high school while they were in high school and are now in college with these characters as they are in college are growing up together. It demonstrates how these characters are evolving into educated young adults. Certainly the new theme took a toll on the comedy that the high school series was famous more. The College Years tried to have more adult situations (diverse situations in the after-high-school life college students may find themselves in, like who to date, for example), which are very difficult to make funny.. and are mostly that have those plots are more like dramas and soap operas. The maturing to adulthood theme was a nice (chronological) fit for fans of the show who followed the series.
View MoreThis spinoff of the 1989 series, "Saved By The Bell" actually was pretty good. It wasn't as cheesy as the original and had much more realistic storylines. Although it only lasted for 1 season, I think it would have lasted much longer if it stuck to it's Saturday Morning-Line Up rather than moving it to Primetime. I also think it was pretty stupid of the producers to have The College Years playing at the same time as The New Class. Leslie was a very strong character in the beginning but became useless towards the end of the season. And Alex was sometimes very funny or very irritating. Dean McMann was hilarious as the "Zack-hating" Dean and Mike was cool. The storyline that was definitely a stand out in the short-lived series was non other than the Zack/Kelly love story. It was nice to see them grow from their naive characters of Bayside to grown-up characters in the College Years. BOTTOM LINE: Really good series that should have lasted way longer than it did.
View Moredrunk so I actually watched it. It was much funnier than the original which usually sucked even though I would watch it and actually once skipped a baseball game to watch it which cost me an all star appearance one year in little league. Anyway, I laughed my ass of of course I had been drinking a lot. I'm just getting a kick out of how many people miss this show, get over it, it was like 9 or 10 years ago. Hopefully you all are in college or have jobs now or something. Oh well, keep the fight, they might actually bring it back, and do Saved by the Bell: The Out of Work Years. I think it would be hilarious.
