What a waste of my time!!!
everything you have heard about this movie is true.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
View MoreFantastic tv serie and pretty much realistic!I will not say much but the ending was like not really what I was expecting but thats a good turn for me, very realistic way to decide by the judge... so sad decision at the end. I hope season 2 comes because its so much missing! Where did this girl death go? And the other three men justice?
View MoreI binge watched the show and although I appreciate the message it appeared to be sending, there were too many things that affected the credibility of the show and therefore my enjoyment of it. First of all, as one familiar with the criminal justice system, there were too many times proper procedures were not followed, or ignored. For example, if the DA has the key witness for grand jury testimony, one who your entire case rests on, you guard against any possible event that will prevent the witness from testifying. Take Naomi. To have her in a youth center holding, even though ordered by child protective services, is absurd. You get a protection order from the grand jury and have her under lock and key until she testifies. Another bothersome detail was that it was concluded that she died of a self-induced heroin overdose, but later, Fish references one of the accused cops having scratch marks on his arms. If you suspect that, you get DNA samples from Naomi's fingernails to indicate that it might have been a forced overdose which raises the question of foul play by the dirty cops who would benefit from her "going away". There were just too many forced plot twists to mention that harmed the prosecution that could have been avoided. And finally, the trial was unrealistic from a legal standpoint. As an attorney, I was objecting on every question and found most of the trial scenes to be nearly laughable. I know it's necessary to try to condense a trial to a couple of episodes, but a trial of that magnitude and community importance would have lasted weeks, if not months. It also struck me that there was a similarity in some scenes that seemed to be taken right out of "The Wire", which in my mind was the most realistic depiction of urban struggle between the street drug life versus the police/legal/political machine.
View MoreI binged watched this in 2 days, so it keeps you entertained. The acting is superb, but the story does drag. Many have complained about what Marie told her husband right before he took the stand, but I get it: she told him his team leader put a hit out on him, so he kept his mouth shut to stay alive. I have two problems, however. I don't believe Brenton's mother would have thrown away the seagull she found in his hospital bed. She was OBSESSED with everything about her son, and I know she would have saved it. Second: Nadine's murder. Sure, it's possible to o.d. the first time you shoot up heroin, but there were NO indications of a struggle before she died? THE only witness dies right before she's set to testify, and they're like, "oh well." Bull. You won't get the sentence you want, but that's making a point. This is a social commentary on today's America- and many won't like it, but it's worth the watch.
View MoreJust finished the Seven Seconds series. This was a very good and factual series in matters of corruption within the system, and how justice may be blind and absolutely unfair. To quote one of my favorite rappers "the constitution was never made for us" (Us=Black people) Seeing every episode was very tense and stressful. Thinking about how the ones that are supposed to serve and protect instead kill and neglect. Of course I objectively understand that not all of them are like this, however, the principal is what matters. To also, see the prosecutor and the mother lose their minds in this show was interesting as well while the mother lost her mind from grieving and the prosecutor lost her mind from lack of justice and on going lies. To see how with a certain jury will be on a murderer's side first before they would help a young black individual. The ending was surprisingly both bad and good. Showing that the blind fold over justices eyes does not represent a good thing and although the bad guy got arrested it was only for a year. It had me thinking..should blacks stay in America? Or should we start packing up?
