Don't listen to the negative reviews

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This is a very well-written and well-acted teen drama with a lot of humour.I've not given it a 10, because some of the plot lines are unrealistic, such as Anwar going from being a virgin to being a king of casual sex within a short time.I've watched all of the first series and am part-way through watching the second. My review only applies to those episodes that I've watched.

Skins is one of them shows I would not be appealed to at first, mainly because it sets itself as a teen drama but after watching the first season, I was damn impressed on how much I actually cared for these characters. With Season 2 going more in-depth I couldn't be more invested. And now this is my problem with Skins, they never clear anything up with there primary characters, I was frustrated not knowing what happened with Sid and Cassie, but a part of me could live with it and just assume he finally found her (which he did as explained in season 7) the majority of the characters of the 'first generation' was pretty much cleared up actually I guess it's more to do with the second generation now if I am honest I continued watching Skins because of Effy, Kaya Scodelario owns the role she's the heart of Skins. And the ending of Season 4 was the part where I got so frustrated, first off a character died which I couldn't of been more disappointed. Nothing was cleared up at all, did Effy find out? I felt like season 4 deserved more episodes to clear it up. Yes parts are explained in Season 7 (the redux) as they called it but at the time, you didn't know, and you actually like the secondary generation on the same level as the first and how season 4's ended it automatically alienated the third generation but even so nothing about season 5 & 6 is memorable at all. The plot and characters became petty and annoying and season 7 was a wasted opportunity because it some how twisted it's character giving Cook & Cassie and okay send off but considering Effy was my favorite I was extremely disappointed by itBut this doesn't stop Skins being watchable at least Season 5 & 6 the journey of these characters are good but the finales of them all are not so satisfying I'm afraid.

This British TV show follows a group of teens for 2 series and then replaces the cast for the next 2 series. It takes on risky subject matters. There are lots sex, drugs and everything else. I also really like the show setting different characters as the lead in many of the episodes. It's a very innovative and risky approach to a TV series. The cast is mostly compelling with some great young up-and-comers.The first two series are led by the bold popular Tony Stonem (Nicholas Hoult). The best character is the eccentric and damaged Cassie Ainsworth (Hannah Murray). There is also the silent and mercurial Effy Stonem (Kaya Scodelario). The second two series are led by Eff and her talkative innocent friend Panda. The most interesting characters are probably the twins Katie (Megan Prescott) and Emily Fitch (Kathryn Prescott). Their relationship is somewhat outside the norm for TV and has loads of drama. James Cook (Jack O'Connell) is the lead male. The third two series started off with the sexually ambiguous Franky Fitzgerald (Dakota Blue Richards) and her rocky relationship with queen bee Mini McGuinness. Franky is befriended first by nice Grace Blood. Franky's character changed a bit too much for my taste. Also the lost of Grace disconnects the two halves. The seventh series revisits Effy Stonem, Cassie Ainsworth and James Cook after they left school.

Skins is one of my favourite TV series. For me the first generation is the best, I just feel that you can connect with the characters in it, I mean not everything in it is everyday, but for me the characters emotions and just being a Teenager was something I could connect to. The best character I think is Maxxie, although he isn't a main character as such, I just felt like the problems he had with Anwar were the same as I have had. Overall I would say that Skins is a defiant watch if you are looking for a great series to get into and something that you feel involved in and attached to. Just a shame they change the cast every two seasons.
