Highly Overrated But Still Good
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
View MoreTrue to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
View MoreA film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
View MoreWhen I first tried to watch this show, I could not get past the first ten minutes honestly. I thought it was just another dirty teen show. I am so glad I gave it another shot, because now I'm watching it all over again for the second time - it is so good!!After I finished vol. 1 and 2, I was so sad!! Starting generation 2 with a whole new set of characters was so difficult for me, but after an episode or two I think most people just get used to it. I have fell in love with each generation separately. All of the characters all so unique. This show touches on so many teen issues, it's amazing. I think adolescence is a really rough time for most people filled with confusion, and shame due to conflicting ideas and new feelings. This show touches on many taboo topics, and makes many people understand that others have gone through what these kids have gone through. This show touches on so many things including mental illness, jealousy, eating disorders, death of friends, death of parents, alcohol and drug abuse, teen pregnancy, neglectful parents, strict parents, teen love, sexuality, gender identity, severe trauma, sibling relationships, school, etc. It's so fun to see how you relate to different characters for different reasons, and people you know everyday who remind you of skins characters. This show is an emotional roller coaster that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. I'm so sad there aren't more generations.
View MoreI started this show a few weeks ago after being recommended from a friend, and I don't regret it one bit. This show is absolutely brilliant. It brought you into the lives of teenagers, and all of their problems. Season 1 & 2: The characters are really easy to bond with and you instantly fall in love with them. The cast is top notch, they are all great actors and fit their role perfectly. Season 2 is similar to season 1. however it is much darker and much more intense in my opinion.I have just started season 3, and so far I love it. I was afraid that the new cast wouldn't live up to the high standards set by the previous one, but I've been impressed thus far. I'm glad to have seen familiar faces in the first episode, which relates the new season to the previous 2. After finishing the whole second generation, I can truly say that they were as good as the first one.The third generation was very difficult for me to get into. It took three or four episodes to really start to attach to the characters. However, I am very happy that I pushed through, because they were just an amazing generation. BE WARNED, THIS SHOW IS NOT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE. If you somehow got the impression that this was a family show, you may want to rethink. There is constant drug use, harsh language, sexual references, nudity and just in general is very graphic.
View MoreAs a rule of thumb, I find teen dramas boring, but this program is completely different to anything you have ever seen. I watched it as a teenager and didn't take all that much interest but watching it again just recently on netflix and I didn't realise the superb acting that is contained in this drama. The story isn't outstanding with a lot of unbelievable things occurring and a few "that would never happen" scenes but the actors act so well that you have no chance of not being sucked in.Seasons 1-4 have a great cast, although 3 & 4 got a lot of grief I still really enjoyed it. Seasons 5,6 and 7 are very boring. If I was you, just pretend they didn't happen and sit back and enjoy Seasons 1-4 of skins. It would get a ten star rating if they stopped at season 4 but it still deserves a solid 9.
View MoreThe most interesting thing about teenagers is not the way they are (because this is mainly how adults see them), but the way they want to look like and what this tell about who they really are. That's definitely what makes of Skins so remarkable. It's a sincere absurd, and this explain the success of this beautiful English series. Focusing in a character per episode, we discover the world of which of this teenagers, and the way they see the world, and also how they want to seem to the world. Knowing who they are it's impossible to not fall in love with some of them. The sadly happy Cassie, which world is full of kindness and anguish. The lovely Chris, which heartbreaking end is one of the saddest moments of the series. Or the insane and hypnotic Cook. Full of compassion and absolutely imaginative moments, Skins is above all a teenage achievement.
