    Absolutely the worst movie.

    Invaderbank

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Spooks depicts the activities of MI5 agents protecting the UK from various threats to the country's internal security. The episodes I tried also mixed in a storyline presenting the personal life of the director of the agents depicted. This seemed like an awkward blend, and one that just didn't work for me. I wondered whom the show was trying to please. The counter-intelligence plots are satisfying enough, but the stories seemed too neat, too quickly wrapped up. I've not yet been convinced of the season-long or series-long story arcs that are fashionable these days. Spooks, however, made me wonder whether such a format would work better for the stories they are telling. There are moments of graphic, horrific violence here, but I cared so little about the characters that even this lacked any serious emotional punch. "Ewww" is a pretty cheap reaction to set up; but if you're not engaged with the characters, it's meaningless and quickly over. So, definitely not my thing. If not for the weird inclusion of soap opera elements, I could recommend it to folks who like spy thrillers, but on the basis of what I saw, I won't be recommending this to anybody.

I'm through S6. S5 and S6 could pass for Iranian propaganda. Is it? I have to wonder because in this world of spies and counter spies the only good pure and angelic people on the planet are the Iranians. Their motives are pure, they're always the victims and they're always victorious against the Satanic and dastardly forces of the evil Jew/Zionist/American/Crusader/Globalist machine. The only thing that stops the peaceful peace loving Persians of peace from being stomped out of existence is the well meaning if somewhat incompetent bumbling of MI-5. And of course the only terrorists on the planet are Israelis. No one else.Other than that, what started out as interesting and shocking with the sudden death or disappearance of key characters has sort of degenerated into random turnover. Harry's team is almost always shrinking and taking on new and inexperienced members which leaves the few older hands still alive to shoulder the entire workload of every episode.I'll likely watch it to the bitter end but if it descends into standard British far left genteel antisemitism perhaps not. And if they don't abate the churn of all the characters, it won't be all that interesting to follow. Also - can someone explain to me why the authentication scheme for the message boards is both broken (never authenticates) AND, it's the most complex thing I've ever seen for a board that doesn't sell goods and services. Seriously? Password, email, phone number, and a credit card? And the SMS part has NEVER worked? One would imagine that since IMDb is owned by Amazon they'd make it at least as usable AS Amazon. What next? Blood and urine samples? An FBI background check?

This is one of the best TV series of its kind. Most spy stories are far-fetched tales of brave heroes who single-handedly save the planet from villains ready the blow up the whole world, and of course they do it all by themselves, by sleeping with beautiful women, jumping from 50 metre tall buildings, killing an army of villains with just one revolver, etc etc etc - think of the 007 and the Mission Impossible movies, for example. This is way more realistic. Of course there are some holes in the plot, but in general this TV series tends to be about team work by a group of ordinary people who happen to work for MI5, and whose work, in fact, takes its toll on their private lives. The actors of this TV series will plant bugs in a house, try to infiltrate terrorist cells, do intelligence work etc all to stop the villain in each episode, but it is all quite realistic: there isn't a computer analyst that can retrieve everyone's school records from 50 years ago in 10 seconds, like in Criminal Minds, nor unrealistic heroes of the kind played by Sean Connery, Tom Cruise, etc. Nonetheless, or, actually, because of this, the stories are never banal and, in fact, most episodes are mini-thrillers: you think you figured it all out but only in the last ten minutes do you realise that you, in fact, hadn't.Another aspect I really appreciated is that it doesn't try to portrait security services as the 'good guys' against the 'bad guys' who simply 'hate us for our freedoms'. In many episodes of the show, for example, the motives of the villains are related to things like war atrocities committed by Britain and by Nato. You will hardly find any of that in American shows. Take '24', for example: that show is all about 'us' vs 'them', about how the end justifies the means, and about how it is right to torture prisoners, etc. Spooks is entirely different, which is one of the many reasons it is one of the best TV series of its kind, ever.

good if not unrealistic in some aspects are mi5 officers armed was under the impressions there supposed to be more invisible and unarmed and un able to arrest anyone lol but the last series was absolute rubbish was hard to stay interested .....im British but feel that at times it seems so anti American its hard to believe it gets put on TV in the USA....and the Russians seem to always be out manoeuvring them ...as irritating as it may be at times its a shame its being cancelled and as usual its been cancelled without a replacement in place maybe they should re brand it and set it in the cold war could be more interesting......it was more interesting when there was one story line per episode rather than dragging a main story line out over the whole series and the constant changing of the main character is irritating i find my self losing track of some of them not to mention how many times they change the home secretary its like 7 in 10 years ......its good but flawed in some aspects sometimes u just have to put your brain to sleep and watch personally id rather watch the first few series and not bother with the last 2 and the ending was a bit disappointing
