    Excellent, Without a doubt!!

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

I always found it fascinating that during the era of the 60s with flower power, free and easy sex a show like That Girl could gain such popularity. True career girl Ann Marie had a steady boyfriend in Donald Hollinger, but there was never a hint they ever did anything. If they had her father would have been there johnny on the spot.Whatever success That Girl had it was due to the charm of Marlo Thomas in the lead. She was the image of every fresh and eager young person who wanted to make it big in the place that if you make it there, you make it anywhere.A father like Lew Parker as Lew Marie would have driven me nuts. Parker is from Brewster, New York one of those commuter towns only an hour or two from Broadway. But he shows up so often I suspect he sublet an apartment. No one, man nor beast, was going to harm daddy's little girl. Did this man not have a living of his own to make?Ted Bessell came over from Gomer Pyle, got his discharge from the Marines to play the boyfriend. Having only one boyfriend for Thomas kind of robbed the show of something. Not that a few men weren't interested, but you knew it wouldn't go anywhere. That Girl was certainly a strange show for the decade it came out.

Yes the theme we see is that it starts out presenting that she doesn't want to ever get married because if she did chances are that she'd have to become a housewife. But by The TV Series' end She that is Ann Marie and Don do get married. Also as I read in People Magazine both Reunion Movies "That Girl Today." and "That Woman." were in The Works but then sadly Ted Bessel who played Don Passed away at the age of 64 years old. These I know really would have each been something and whether or not something else too..The Openings are always cute with the questions in conclusion saying "That Girl."Then leading to the catchy theme song then a few seasons to follow don't have the theme song being sung but just the theme music being played.Among the stuff that might be meant to be funny might be When"That Girl." upon being asked her name and she says "Ann Marie." Then is asked "Ann Marie What?" Then she say "No it's Just Ann Marie and my Father is Lou Marie."But you might still for any reason like for the fun of Nostalgia's sake play these Episodes and Openings on Youtube and/or Hulu.Truthfully,Stephen "Steve" G. Baer a.k.a. "Ste" of Framingham,Ma.USAP.S.As I've told on IMDb before I get Ste as The Result of my Big Brother J.Kevin being a year older that me and unable to say Stephen at the time. Also chances are if anyone out there heard of another Ste before or after me then chances are he copied me.P.P.S.In My Gym Class in The 9th grade and sometime after The New Year of 1979 when The Gym Teacher was doing a demo for square dancing and in conclusion saying something like we'll match up This Boy with This Girl.Meaning yes I was That Boy and that she was That Girl.

I loved this show because Marlo Thomas was so wonderful and an icon of the sixties woman and New York actresses! She was not only energetic and perky, but quirky in a completely wholesome way. Plus her eyes are ENORMOUS, like a classic animated Disnet heroine. And of course she has the mandatory sixties hairstyle also sported by Barbara Parkins in Valley of the Dolls and Mary Tyler Moore later on! LOL They're showing a That Girl marathon right now on MeTV, including the rarely shown pilot directed by Jerry Paris from The Dick Van Dyke Show! And I'm watching it. One question: Does anyone know what Donald's last name was in the original pilot? (Hint: It's not the same as it was in later episodes.)

I like this show in retrospective, but as a comedy TV show, it ranks pretty low. I wanted to like it, but it doesn't hit the mark. Some good laughs, some good acting (George Carlin makes his first acting debut as Marlo Thomas' agent George Lester) but that's it. As a retrospective, it is pretty good (right up there with the Honeymooners). B+
