Save your money for something good and enjoyable
just watch it!
An absolute waste of money
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
View MoreI saw this series when I was in grade school, and watching this series certainly brings back memories. At first glance you'd find Peter's character design weird (something about that nose and lips) but it grows on you, and I'll be damned if I knew why or how. I can clearly remember me and my female classmates all confessing our love for Peter Pan, so there. Besides, I think it adds to the 'fantasy' feel of the series; Peter Pan doesn't look like an ordinary boy because he is, after all, not an ordinary boy. In fact, by the time I finished the series, I have come to dislike Disney's green-clad version of Peter Pan because it's so... ordinary. You'd be amazed at its animation quality, despite it having been made 20-some years ago. I've seen more than my share of cartoons at that time, so even at my young age I could differentiate ugly animation from good animation. With ugly animation, very few things actually move in the frame; you have characters "moving" on a static background, or worse, a static character "moving" across a scrolling background (think the Flintstones gang running their car) But Peter Pan no Bokuen, ah.... it WAS animation, in every sense of the word. EVERYTHING moves. From Wendy's skirt to her hair ribbons, Hook's cape, the grass, the flowers... and of course, Peter Pan flying. The animation is so fluidly and expressively done that you have to remind yourself that this was made in 1989.The story is nothing to twitch a nose at. Although it follows the original Peter Pan storyline during the first 20 episodes or so, it deviates into an entirely different and original story arc. I could explain here why, but this is the part that is best seen for yourself, not told by other people.Peter Pan isn't a popular children's story in the Philippines. But for us growing up during the late 80's / early 90's, THIS is the Peter Pan story, regardless of what Disney tells us.
View Moreit's rare to find animes with a good storyline and characters this days. i grew up watching animes and this peter pan adaptation is really good and added up with a new storyline.every Nippon's world masterpiece theater series that was shown in my local channel have been very memorable. from Heidi, a dog of Flanders (where many people cried in the ending scene), tom sawyer, princess Sarah, cedie and many more.peter pan is very famous story about a boy from neverland together with the lost boys who never grows up. he met Wendy and her sibling and got invited to go to neverland. the anime tells his adventures together with the darling siblings and the lost boys like in the novel. the first half is faithful from the novel. it introduces peter pan's arch nemesis captain hook and his pirates. peter pan always get the upper hand at the end of the day and captain hook always divert his anger and frustration to his crew for being stupid or he is being chased by the crocodile.the second half is the added story arc. it started when hook destroys the tree house and peter and the crew decided to take a journey with their new mobile boat house around neverland. this is the most enjoyable part as they will go on places that are really weird but fascinating. the storyline focuses now on the new character princess Luna who ran away from her grandmother who is an evil witch from turning her into evil and destroying neverland. from there, they have to find a way to defeat the evil sinistra before neverland reach its doom.the series is faithful to the character roles and storyline as much as possible. the added storyline is great and more exciting than the first half as it turns a little bit dark and serious but because they now travel, you will see the neverland's fantasy.
View MoreThis series may look a little coarse and lacking of definition in many aspects, but it woks perfectly according to the narrative, the animation and action in every episode. On the other hand: the backgrounds and the art design are impressive; one of the best works I've ever watched on a TV animated series. The moments of drama, fun and action create a perfect mixture that brings on a perfect timing for high levels of entertainment.Even there is an approaching to the romantic vein.I watched it translated to Spanish (great job, by the way)so I think the original language is not so adapted. Some characters appear a little weird speaking in Japanese.
