It really had nothing much to recommend it beyond the unusual pairing of Hal Linden and Suzanne Pleshette--and they didn't make too many sparks together, though both are much loved individually. The sons were dull, the grandkids were dull, and the show as a whole added up to not much. It's no wonder this didn't last long.
