    The Worst Film Ever

    Anoushka Slater

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

The title of this review says it all folks. Jimmy is looking down on us from up above heckling us like Statler and Waldorf, except old Jim- bo is using a lot more curses and slurs. Remember the good old days, the golden years? I don't, I wasn't born yet. But, thats not the point, or is it? Anyways... The Muppets used to be good, but clearly those Hollywood execs upstair in the old Muppet Studios cleary had their eyes turn to dollar signs when they thought up this one. CHA CHING! Thats probably the sound they heard bellow through the barren desert that was their skulls. They should be ashamed. James Maury Henson (That's his full name, I looked it up), didn't create The Muppets to drain every last drop of soul and spirit out of them, but thats what these suits did. I bet you they literally grabbed Kermit by the neck and feet and twisted their hands in two different directions, draining anything they could out of the poor guy. I've watched all (most) of the Muppet films and am a self proclaimed Muppet enthuthiast. My opinion doesn't matter to you, and it also doesn't help that I haven't watched a single episode of this show. So what am I trying to prove? Nothing. I go where I am needed, like Batman. To be completely honest, like most people, I fear change and that which I do not know. I just decided to pick on this show, because I can. Although I am still going to go with my gut feeling here and always for the rest of my days assume nothing positive about this show. The only redeemable thing is that based off the poster the Muppets look to be in it, but like I said in the sentences above, I haven't watched any of it. I very well might turn this on one day and see a bunch of midgets with furr and googly eyes hot glued to them talk in funny voices. In all seriousness though, I am a reasonable person and I doubt what I just said would ever happen (prove me wrong ABC, I dare you). In short, I think I'll stick to the good stuff; the original Muppet Movie, Muppets take Manhatten and Muppets in Space. It's what Jim would want. Before I take my leave, I would just like to say that I am n no way, shape or form a religious person, but I would like to put it out there that this evening I may take a moment and try to connect with Jimmy on a spiritual level and apologize for the mistakes which have been made.

The Muppets are back but not exactly in the way that everybody remembers them from their childhood. Kermit the Frog is the harried producer of Miss Piggy's late night talk show. The rest of the Muppets are the crew working to put together the show. Fozzie is dating Becky and Kermit may have a new love interest. What could have been? That's what haunts this show right from its inception. Everybody has memories of The Muppets from their childhood. The recent movies are good updates. This is such an obvious TV pitch of a Muppets' copy of 30 Rock that it actually annoyed my sensibilities. Then there is the problem that trying to copy 30 Rock would illicit. Kermit and Miss Piggy can fight but they can't seriously try to manufacture a love triangle. Then there is Fozzie dating a human girl. The humor is too adult which clashes with the innocence of the Muppets. Once the adjustment is made in the expectation, there are some minor laughs but this was doomed from the start.

It's too perverted for children and too childish for adults. Simply terrible! They gave a bad reputation to good characters. The previous version was for the whole family: kids and adults. Poor move to change it. It was actually sickening to watch. We stuck through the whole episode with an open mind hoping we just missed something, but unfortunately we didn't. The whole romantic relationship between humans and muppets, meeting the parents and acting as if it's something normal was just too weird and the extra hard edge on miss piggy, her reputation and character from before was so much better. In this show they jacked her up and it just isn't as smooth. The format of the show appears to be a 'copy' of The Office with characters narrarating in a office setting. Worked for The Office and their characters, but certainly not for The Muppets - not good!

I've seen only bits of the older muppets show, and I did like it. So I watched this the day it came out, I knew however, that it would be aimed at a somewhat older audience. Opinions I think a lot of the jokes are pretty well written and the setting itself isn't bad. As a lot of reviews will point out, there is some added adult humor which was definitely not in the original, I honestly am not much of a fan of that, it isn't nearly as crass as shows with "The Office" style humor. However, these jokes are used a little too much and feel forced and a even a bit awkward at times. The good news is that it doesn't make up the entirety of the comedy. I think they should lessen the adult humor, at least a bit, not only does it make it a bit better for younger audiences, it also leaves the door open for more creative comedy. I will continue watching this to see how this show progresses.
