While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
View MoreThe acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
View MoreEach character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
View MoreIt is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
View MoreOK, first off with the negative stuff: The format was planted into a completely saturated market, and, with all the competition, the series is nothing terribly new. Had the creators maybe waited until "Castle" or "Rizzoli & Isles" had aired their last season, this series would have filled a great gap - the witty cop show that makes you feel better for watching it. Now the two aforementioned series have run their course, and "The Mysteries of Laura" has undeservedly tanked after two seasons (with nothing to replace it, really). Fantastic. As to the positive aspects - well, the characters are entertainingly written (and the actors do a great job bringing that to the screen), the cases themselves provide a decent amount of suspension, and it doesn't have a fundamentally depressing undertone to it (which makes for great serial classics like "Breaking Bad" or "Narcos", but sometimes that's simply not what you're looking for). If you like the type of cop shows that you can watch from the sofa while maybe eating a taco, just to have a good time - and don't want a format where every second episode involves chasing some super secret McGuffin that jeopardizes the security of the US and whatnot - this is for you.The series has quite a loyal small fan base in the German-speaking area. So fingers crossed we'll maybe get a DVD release.
View Moreboring, lame and miscast, Messing needs to stick to sitcoms her acting is pure shtick, waiting for the punchline after each line of lame dialog out of her mouth,a drama actress she is not! As for Josh Lucas, get back to motion pictures before this lame drivel drowns your career. Any viewer that buys this Lucille ball hued mess as a police woman needs to watch Angie Harmon at work on Rizzoli and Isles, she is able to swing from comedic lines to serious drama faultlessly and believably unlike Messing's sad attempt she just does not have the chops but in all fairness the plots and script are laughable to say the least. cannot guess why this was renewed and better shows were cancelled.
View MoreI love this show and it is such a great show you don't have to worry about your kids walking in on. It has its serious moments and great comedy. She always gets the criminal, but in her own snazzy way. We need more shows like this one! There's too many drama filled, cuss word filled shows out there that kids should not watch and this is one my son can play in the room while its on and we can just relax. Hope they don't cancel it! All the characters are unique and perfect in the show. <3 By far one of my favorite new series out on TV today. <3 Mysteries of Laura is fantastic! And they have to keep it around. 10 stars! I live how she is always herself, and no matter what she can figure out who committed the crime. She has this way of attention to detail that just shows how smart she is. Some may think this is too silly a show but I think that is what makes it so great! Shows don't have to serious all the time, and this show's comedy is perfect. Not stupid funny but actually lol funny. I laugh so much that my husband started watching with me and now he likes it. We introduced my sister in law to it and she is a die hard sci fi fan and even she loves it now!
View Morethis show contains the comedy to make it relatable, the drama of a crime/ CSI type show, and the romantic drama/angst. best of all worlds and perfect for everyone to watch and find something interesting about . Debra messing at her best! there is crime and mystery to every plot, plus debra messing's relatable character plus the added office and romance drama, best of all worlds. not too much like csi and crime like that is too realistic/ will gibe you nightmares, but enough to progress the plot and really get caught up in the mystery story line. adding the romance into this show makes it perfect for all genres. seeing the dead bodies doesn't freak me out too much and there is so love angst in the show to make up for it, debra messing as a multifaceted character at her best!
