Purely Joyful Movie!

Highly Overrated But Still Good

Fantastic!

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

First of all, this rating is not by IMDb's crazy standards. This show has some real weaknesses that are reflected in my rating. Yes, I loved the characters, and the story has some really thrilling moments that I could have never predicted, but you have to look past the surface to truly judge it fairly. And that's why it comes short of being a proper good show (which, to be fair, most shows aren't anyway). So, what are these flaws I'm talking about? Well, basically every single episode bases its story line on one simple mechanic: One character tells their partner or friend a lie, and this is later discovered and creates conflict. Also, the plot devices usually arise from a character doing something really stupid, that makes no logical sense. Obviously, this is more noticeable when it comes from, say, Ryan or Sandy, than when Seth or Summer do it. Either way it's a sign of lazy writing, and very much along the mainstreamed and mediocre line of most similar shows. Not saying it's a deal breaker, but it definitely separates decent or good shows from great ones. No matter how much we like the characters, we can't just look past obvious flaws in a show, like so many people on this site do (just look at Friends, it's rated almost 9/10, which is absolutely absurd). Another big plus are some of the turns in the overall plot or main story that we follow through a season. There are some really dramatic and touching moments that I though were very well executed. And I guess that is what lifts this show past just having great characters, and makes me think of it fondly and with assurance that I will remember it. I recommend this to anyone who can withstand some bad writing and illogical turns to experience all the good that it has to offer, which again, can be said for a lot of shows.

I have no doubt why The O C ended here. The first three episodes, taking place after the death of a main character, were good. Then it all went very wrong.Alternative realities? Really?Most of all, however, the dreadful, awful, non stop talking of ghastly Taylor! The introduction of whom just about did it for me. Not to mention the nonsensical pairing of her with Ryan. Just plain unbelievable. I loath her not stop idiotic chatter and find myself fast forwarding to avoid this awful, dire season.It such a shame compared to the very good writing of the previous seasons.

The O.C. is an American teen drama TV series which lasted for four seasons about the fictional lives of a group of teen-agers and their families that are living at the affluent seaside community of Newport Beach located at Orange County in California.The cast includes Peter Gallagher,Kelly Rowan,Benjamin McKenzie,Mischa Barton,Adam Brody,Chris Carmack,Tate Donovan,Melinda Clarke,Rachel Bilson,Alan Dale,Autumn Reeser and Willa Holland.The series centers on Ryan Atwood,a troubled and tough young man from a broken family and was adopted by a wealthy and philanthropic couple,Sandy and Kirsten Cohen.In addition to that is also tells the story of three families - Cohen, Cooper and Nichol families - and how Ryan will change them and the residents of The O.C. Also,we get to witness the time spent by Ryan and Seth and the time the spend with girl-next-door Marissa Cooper, Seth's childhood crush Summer Roberts, and the fast-talking loner Taylor Townsend.The stories deal with the culture clash between the idealistic Cohen family and its difference with the shallow,materialistic and narrow- minded community where it lives as well as elements of post- modernism, and functions as a mixture of melodrama and comedy. Other themes explored are inter-generational conflict, social class, social mobility, social alienation, sexual performance anxiety, hope, loneliness, virginity, emotional insecurity, environmentalism, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling addiction, mental illness, homophobia, bisexuality, May–December romances, teen pregnancy, political activism, and eventually death and the acceptance of loss. No question about it that the series was able to feature many different themes in a light-hearted and comedic manner that the viewer will surely enjoy.Also,it became it became a forerunner of many popular shows later after it existed on the TV screen such as The Desperate Housewives and many others. It definitely has its place among the great TV series that was shown on TV.It will definitely be surely missed by many viewers for many years to come for it has its place among great TV series.

I first saw it on TV in 2004(i know it's late),and decided to give it a try.At first I thought that would be another series with teens and all this cliché stuff.I was wrong ,the first two seasons are so original and have all these clues which attract most viewers.One of the very best TV series.I didn't have any special complains.I guess it kinda suit my tastes.In other words it may not be perfect for anybody.Noteworthy is the fact,that there are some plot details which are the main point of this show.For example,the show contains teen drama,teen problems and stuff like that.Personally,I think most shows,even movies depict all this drama so unrealistically,in the otherside the OC is realistic in most plot parts(there may be many "unrealistic" coincidences,but it would be so boring withoou that).Noteworthy is the excellent soundtrack that plays with each episode.Definitely a must see!
