    Am I Missing Something?

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

I think the title pretty much describes it. I worked n the government (not in US :)) for some time, and I can really relate to the action. It is a bit idealistic, but the sense of chaos in the beginning, frustration over defeats when you really want to do something good, taste of victory when something is accomplished , fast paced living in those positions, all the unexpected real life and the personality clashes... but also the sense of doing something worth working for and the "l'esprit de corps" (yes, there is a strong bond within the staff when they all work toward something) - I can easily recognize that. It was clearly scripted from a certain political view. But just disregard that. It's pretty much the same :) Acting is great for almost all the actors, the script is made in such way that I couldn't wait to see the next episode, dialogues are fast and witty (well, in reality, most are not - but this just is adding to the fun :)). I did enjoyed more the first half of the series, but the second one it's not bad at all. Highly recommended if you like the genre.

I have watched The West Wing from start to finish 3 times and it never fails to elicit every single range of emotions. I have laughed out loud, shed a tear, and shouted out in anger, sometimes all within a single episode. With the incredibly fast paced dialogue, the wit and palpable on screen chemistry the cast clearly share, it is a joy to behold. In terms of content it raises above the standard fair of crime, violence, blood, gore, Kardaasians and car chases, and instead speaks to the hopes and dreams of a society where hard work, integrity, intelligence, and honour are celebrated instead of mediocrity and presented in the best 45 minutes of TV history ever created. Oh how I wish there were more shows like this capable of reminding and restoring faith in humanity. Mandatory viewing for boxset bingers.

Highly unrealistic Utopian White house with only angels living in it... No real plot or story. Stop watching after 6 episodes.

One of the things I really like about "The West Wing" is that it's a show steeped in politics, but ends up being about the drama. I usually find myself getting lost in the dialogue, which is the mark of a great show. The writing on this thing is brilliant. Very nice set design, too. I've never been to the White House, but I do love the sets; it's just a very warm presence. And the actual show wouldn't be anything without its stellar. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better ensemble on prime time.Speaking of its politics, this has a reputation for being very left. Which is all well and good. But the person who turned me onto this was not at all liberal. Just saying.Personally, I just love Martin Sheen as President Bartlet. The man's got the commanding presence and charisma oozing from his very pores. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him in the real oval office.8/10
