    A Disappointing Continuation

    WillSushyMedia

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I've often wondered why Third Watch is only on DVD in Asia, but I'm told by some connected friends it has to do with copyright and royalty issues with the music. Since Third Watch has mainstream music by big, established artists, they need to pay them more to use the music on DVD. Asia has more lax laws governing this. A good example of this is the Married... With Children DVDs. Notice the theme song "Love and Marriage" is replaced by some generic keyboard music? Other shows didn't have this problem, as there were fewer artists and songs used (Like Tour of Duty - Most in-show music was original scores, and the theme song "Paint it Black" was and always will be connected to Tour of Duty). Once they pay the artists, we'll get our DVDs. Oh, btw - Third Watch introduced this old rocker to The Crystal Method (Theme song Keep Hope Alive, also used in the Tomb Raider movies, but will ALWAYS be identified as the Third Watch theme. Best recording ever of this tune is on the Family Values Tour '99 CD, recorded live in Biloxi, Mississippi). I say "NBC, pay the artists/labels/whoever the money, I guarantee you'll profit huge when you release the DVDs! Then, sell the show to a movie studio, and make a Third Watch feature film, using the cast from the final episode!"

I guess the people who don't watch the usual soap operas and talk shows watch this to make them feel better about themselves. While before mentioned get off on moral issues, this one deals with criminals, with the actual law, let's get back to this one a bit later... Here there seem to be no innocent victims. Just the iron fist of justice. I guess the appeal here is we have no classy lawyers to justify their actions. Get the scumbag, arrest and question him, possibly with some of the usual police methods. And most of them seem pretty justified. Maybe until some lawyer gets the case and makes the closing speech...something like: well this guy did all this and that, but do his actions justify all the police brutality? NO! This guy was a victim. And therefore you should not find him as guilty. Well the thing here is: we don't see any of this things. All in all this pretty much sums up what's the deal with these soap police series. Here we have some non plus ultra representatives of the law catching bad guys (some of them have gone over the edge, but hey! what the hell, they are dealing with some disturbed individuals!) putting them behind bars and making look themselves as the contributing individuals to society. Maybe my strongest argument would be: What if we would put the cases from Third Watch into the hand of some lawyers from the Practice. Maybe even what if we would put the cops themselves into the hands of some fancy lawyers. Maybe I got a little off the way, if you are still keeping up... here is the real message of this show: The people who take care of the bad guys are the greatest heroes of them all, it doesn't matter if they are just fighting against the consequences of the regime that is the cause of all these things. On the side note, the whole acting, directing. sometimes it just makes me laugh. But that is the least of the problems of this charade.

I love third watch, and was very disappointed that it came to an end without warning. I have been watching third watch from the start, please bring it back! I loved all the story lines and all of the characters. I cried, I laughed, I got mad and also felt the personal changelles they all went through. When Cruz got raped I liked how she and Nina bond, the story line of Nina and Davis but hated when she lost the baby. Most of all they all were a family who stuck together through good times and bad times. The fire dept. and the cops. Please update me on any changes in it coming back or perhaps I was dreaming and really didn't end. Also where is the dvds. Bronte
