Charming and brutal
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
View MoreOne of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
View MoreAmazingly done. Great acting, well produced, emotional. I was very young when this happened. Watching this account was incredibly educational. I look forward to watching the documentary from Paramount online.
View MoreThe tragedy at Waco told from the perspective of survivors and negotiators. Scarier than the scariest horror story/movie.
View MoreNo one will ever know what really happened as those inside the compound are now dead, but I was shocked at the irresponsible story-telling, especially when we have a large population that considers a mini-series a worthy source of fact and take it as such. 1. Why was Kiri Jewell's testimony left out of this story? And the stories of others who were abused at Koresh's hands? She was molested at 10 years old by Koresh. 2. David Koresh took child brides. And no, not the 14 year old kind that Texas says are legal. I'm talking 11 years old. This was also left out.3. He also, by the testimony of Branch Davidians, instructed children on how to commit suicide if they needed to. This was also let out. 4. The medical examiner's report stated that no one died from the gas. It was the fire. This mini series would have us believe the fire started from the gas at the fault of the FBI. They all but say it in the movie. So three simultaneous fires started in different ares of the compound due to the gas? All at the same time? Right. Let's also remember that the clothes on the bodies had traces of lighter fluid. This was also left out. I give three stars for a compelling work of FICTION and great performances by some of my favorite actors. But...as I got to episode four, it started to become clear this was painting Koresh to be a martyr and the government as evil. When black people get shot, white Americans say "well, if they'd just followed police orders, they would've been fine." David Koresh had two months to follow police orders, but he didn't, leading himself and his followers to their death out of selfishness and pride. He was never going to come out. This was always how it was going to end for him and his followers. He was crazy, and if the fact that he brainwashed men to let him sleep with their wives isn't enough to convince people that he was dangerous, then congrats to the filmmakers for successfully preying on so many dumb viewers. I'll make sure to skip their next mini series production, though.
