What a waste of my time!!!

    Nayan Gough

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Laughs with lesbian school girls... but no sleaze! When I first saw this series listed on Crunchyroll I thought I'd watch the first episode to see if it was as dubious as it sounded... an anime about a group of middle school lesbians sounds pretty dubious! I soon realised that it was fairly innocent but also rather funny. I was soon hooked and ended up looking forward to each new episode being released. In the opening scene it becomes apparent that school girl Akari will be the series protagonist... until the second scene when it becomes a series long joke that she might as well be invisible for all the attention she gets! The true protagonist is Kyoko; the founder of the Amusement Club. This club doesn't have any set aims and its members; Kyoko, Akari, Yui and Chinatsu just hang around having fun together. Their antics frequently end up involving the school's student council although for the most part there is little animosity between the groups and they are soon to all intents and purposes part of the main group. The episodes feature the usual tropes encountered in school girl anime; beach trips, festivals and sleep-overs... all of which present opportunities for one girl to try it on with another... or in the case of Chitose and her sister Chizuri an opportunity to fantasise about the others. All this is very chaste though and there is little or no real fanservice. This series turned out to be a surprise favourite; I really liked the characters especially Kyoko and Chitose as they made me laugh most frequently. Don't be put off by the lesbian elements of the show... or watch it just because of them as they are secondary to the humour of the show. The character designs were fairly generic but that didn't bother me as they were distinctive from each other even if they could have come from a dozen other shows. If you like school based comedy anime this one is worth checking out even if it won't become a classic like 'Azumanga Daioh' or 'Lucky Star'.These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
