Well Deserved Praise
Truly Dreadful Film
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
View MoreOk... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
View MoreThis was just something that I put on because I was bored, and oh my, it turned out to be a gem. It was awkward, like being a teenager is, funny, warm, decent acted, believable, realistic and heartwarming. I was rooting for Alex the whole time, yeah it was predictable, but it didn't matter. I fell in love with Alex and Elliot, felt love for them and with them while watching - isn't that the whole point? Watch it, it's worthy of your time.
View MoreAlex Truelove is the protagonist I feel like we all need to see. He's brilliant, he's awkward, he's dorky, and he's just as confused as the rest of us. His story truly touched my heart and we very relatable. I've gone through a few labels, and I'm not even sure if I will stick with the one I identify with now. Him exploring his sexuality was something I don't think I've really seen in a movie or tv show before. I've seen people know their label and just have not come out, but this is the first time I've seen a character learn, and in a very realistic way. It was hilarious. I will admit Alex's friends are idiots and were part of the reason I didn't give this a 10/10. I didn't like Dell that much. The frog thing was kind of stupid. I also didn't like the whole frat party. But this movie was still very funny and uplifting.Alex and Elliot are now in my top 5 OTPs. They had this instant connection that was very real. Even from the start, you could see Alex relax with Elliot. It was obvious that he was the one for him. Alex and Claire were cute, but you could tell something was missing (no it wasn't sex). But major props to the actors for pulling off this amazing intimacy without being dirty. Overall, Alex Strangelove is the movie teens who are struggling with thier identity should see. I could see myself in Alex, and I know others did as well. It was a little rocky at times, like with the frat party and Dell's pretty homophobic comments (I hated that scene so much). It is still the coming of age movie young people should watch, especially if they are struggling with their sexuality. 8/10
View MoreAlex Strangelove, follows high school student Alex who has the perfect relationship with his long time girlfriend and is peer pressured to finally do the knitty-gritty with her, until he meets Elliott a guy he is sure is interested in him and suddenly he is confused on what he wants and who he is. The film is charming and let's just say a little more inappropriate than how I thought it would be. The film does focus on Alex and his struggle to figure out his sexuality and identity. Though, I don't think the film really touched on it quite as good as I thought they would. The movie did kind of drag and Elliot was hardly in the film, though the ending really made up for what felt like a long film. Really the ending was good and gave me that YASS moment. The acting was quite good and had the right amount of charm to please a crowd.Alex: "I'm sorry I was such a sh***y boyfriend." Claire: "No. No, you're the best gay boyfriend a girl could have." *they both laugh* Alex: "That's funny."-Alex and Claire, Alex Strangelove
View MoreThere have been so many wonderful gay movies made. Plus, much gay history can be viewed very well through the evolution of how the homosexual has been depicted on the screen since the very moment that the moving picture was invented. All of them are prologue to this film. From all of us old gay people who have lived and live still, and for those who have died, who have wanted real freedom for gay people this movie is what we wanted. The freedom to be who you are. Freely. As you live your own life, and as life happens to you. Bless you, our sons and daughters. Be free. It is what we wanted for you. It is what we want for everyone. Now it is who you are. Carry on, carry on.
