Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
View MoreGreat movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
View MoreThe plot of this movie was pretty boring and unoriginal, a Romeo and Juliet with animated wolves as the stars. The only good thing about the movie was Christina Ricci (actress of Wednesday on the Addams Family movies), voice the albino wolf Lilly. The other voice actors were terrible. There was excessive crude humor and it was disgusting and unnecessary. Most of the characters themselves are shallow and seemingly have no purpose. The wolf Kate has a mane like a horse, supposedly to make the wolf character look more feminine, but last I checked wolves don't have hair like that. Cross Brother Bear with All Dogs go to Heaven and you'd get this, it's a pretty pathetic movie. It apparently takes place in Canada but looks very unlike Canada. I live here for god's sake, it isn't all snowy mountains and maple trees, you can go swimming here in the summer and we have great beaches, factories, movies are filmed here, it is nothing like this movie! This is a waste of time watching, if you want a good animated kid's movie try Monster's Inc. (2001) or Chicken Run (2000).
View MoreI suspected from the trailer that this wouldn't be good. Being a fan of wolves & animation though; I gave it a chance. First, the good. There are sweet moments for B couple, Lilly & Garth. Also, there are beautiful backgrounds. A cuddly bear cub scene-steals. Unfortunately these are over- shadowed by the BAD. The attempts at humour are dreadful. Too much "bathroom" for a start. The golfing goose & his duck companion just don't work as comic relief. Instead their presence reminds us of a better wolf film - BALTO. The big names are wasted in this poor fodder. The plot could have been interesting, but was too much old ground. The log sledging & Kate's acrobatics get repeated over & over. Maybe not a problem for younger children. Adults will get bored. I certainly won't be watching the sequels.
View MoreThe last few years, animation films tend to make stories that will excite not only the children but the adult audience as well. 'Alpha and omega' is not an exception. The story is about two wolves, who belong to different status in the their society and who, after an adventurous trip, they fell in love. Interesting plot, based on the familiar romantic stories, and developed on the structure of the wolf life. Nice twist with Cate's sister and her mate-to-be, that was a fresh note to the whole static story. In addition there was no surprise on the end, as there was a happy ending after all. All in all, a cute movie, however not easy to remember after the first time.
View MoreOK, I first heard of this movie, at a Wolf website. They said a new animated movie was coming out and it has, A LOT OF WOLVES IN IT. me being the, "WOLF LOVER" I HAD to check it out. I bought it at wal-mart for 10$ then I watched it. I stopped it 38 minutes in. I'm sorry, I just wasn't getting into it. Then, Like 4 months later, I watch it again. After seeing it a second time I liked (and appreciated) It a LOT more. so now, Here's my Negatives and Postitives. Negatives: Lots of Cliché moments. The other characters, the goose, and the duck, (and any animal, besides the wolves) Were Unnecessary to the plot. Positives: The wolves look fantastic. Animation is Good, Sound track is lively and nice. Overall: The movie is Good. Just try to not groan at the ending, or the "Moonlight Howl" Part. 8/10.
