A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I thought Anna was surprisingly well done. The characters were very well developed as you see back story on every main character through memories. Whether it's all true is debatable. What starts off as a cat and mouse game becomes much more. Highly enjoyable film even though it borrows concepts. I mean really it's all been done before you just have to do it different nowadays.

For me It is important to believe the actors are who they portray so casting is extremely important and the story must be believable but that's just for a start. This movie fits that criteria to a T. Bravo on that. It's a wicked thriller with just a dab of futuristic possibilities and a dab of the supernatural. A perfect balance. The whole time you are sitting on the razors edge which way will this story fall? I didn't fast forward once, which I am notorious for. I was actually on the edge of my seat looking forward to the story itself not just how it ended!

Anna has an interesting start and carries viewers through suspense, thrills, and numerous twists and turns. The idea of the movie is brilliant (mindreading), but the storyline is questionable. The movie really entices you, pulls you in and keeps you at the edge of your seat for the first 40 minutes or so. As you dwell further into the movie, there is loads of glaring plot holes and nonsensical bits peeking out that simply couldn't be ignored. For instance, why didn't John check the yearbook earlier to find out about Mousey? Why didn't he phone the police in Anna's house when he is clearly in danger? It was the obvious thing to do, even more so as a detective. The film's ending is such a disappointment and left me shaking my head. The writer just had to come up with such a lackluster ending after all the madness that ensued. What saved the movie was the strong acting by the two lead actors; the incredible Mark Strong as John the mindreading detective and young talent Tessa Farmiga who is convincing as doe eyed Anna. Fans of thrillers should probably check out this movie for the fun of it without setting any bars.

Mindscape has a solid premise, it opens with assertive scenes and good production for suspense. The two main leads, Mark Strong and Taissa Farmiga, are effective for drawing the audience's sympathy, they are strangely involved in a confining situation originally as therapist and patient. It escalates into darker territory as they uncover secrets and danger alike, but unfortunately the movie reaches the conclusion without the same confidence it starts, leaving a dry stale taste as it weakly draws to a close.Story follows John Washington (Mark Strong), a psychic with the rare skill of accessing another people's memories. He is tasked to help Anna Greene (Taissa Farmiga), a smart young girl with troubled past. Washington has suffered from a botched session before and currently struggling with his own issues while Anna is an enigmatic girl who distinctly represents a caged bird. The unique thing about their relationship is Washington serves as a therapist but at the same time a sort of detective investigating her deep rooted anxiety. This brings so much potential as it dabbles with the idea of abuse or manipulation. Washington grows increasingly protective of Anna, there's also a hint of sensuality beneath the adoration but none too blatant to overshadow their unique bond. It has the luxury of both mystery ambiance as well as a bit of sci-fi tone. Its cinematography works in intriguing manner as it portrays the world in noir theme yet it also has the liberty to present a more modern cityscape. Coupled with good script, the movie is a surefire hit for mystery fans. However, it seems to lost its momentum half way through, rehearsing the same material with little thrill. The mix between supernatural and futuristic world have a few decent set-ups for more development, but none pays off satisfyingly. Chemistry between the leads is nice, although the curiosity produced by their interaction doesn't hold until the last arc. Furthermore, some of the crucial intricacies are skimped over, leaving a few plot holes as it wobbles towards the climax. For a thriller with such promising start, it's even more disappointing when it ends so blandly. Unlike most of its genre, where many reach dynamic conclusions, Anna's finale is anticlimactically resembled mediocre dramas'.
