There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Morris is a recluse with psychotic tendencies, whose life changes when his seemingly innocent daughter Lauren rescues one of his victims and befriends him. Jake, a lawyer from the city waiting to propose to his girlfriend properly, soon realises that he is stranded, and his presence in the house gradually reveals unexpected and dark mysteries from the past.....It's a certainly interesting premise, guy gets involved in a 'road accident' comes round in a strange place, with a young girl who is infatuated with him, and her psychotic father.....But in fact, once you've seen the film, you'll have that strange feeling of déjà Vu, because no matter how enjoyable the film can be at times, it's just too familiar, as it has hints from lots of popular horror movies from the past 50 or so years. The films that it reminded of the most were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The People Under The Stairs, Psycho, and a little hunt of Straw Dogs. All these films featured a person out of their comfort zone in an element of peril, and having an injury of some sort. The thing these four films have in common, are that they are far superior to Awaiting. But, the three central performances are solid and Curran especially keeps you gripped whenever he almost loses his marbles (a little bit more). The bloke from coronation street is good, but he's your stereotypical rich boy in peril who thinks its a good idea to be verbally facetious toward your captor when imminent peril is about to be inflicted upon you, just to let them know that your intellectually superior at that particular time......good choice.Vickers is also good, in fact very good for an X factor runner up, her innocent, almost childlike performance is pretty disturbing, especially during the Christmas dinner scene, but then one scene makes you think she may have been a bit of a diva on set, because two certain body parts are CG erased, and it's blooming obvious. So all in all, it's a decent movie, with a couple of decent twists, but you'll think you've seen it before.

Ha , this is really good, just watched this and quickly on here to write a review. Right all characters are solid good performances , story is soooo good , filming really good , soundtrack good. It's great when you find a good horror as god it's few and far in between , I've reviewed loads of horror as its my fave genre and this was such a great uk film. I will write a bit of the story here so don't read if your gonna watch , it's solid horror film. Right , guy tricks man into his house by causing a carcrash and taking him unconscious into his house to fix him up, when he wakes he meets mans daughter who is home schooled and a total freak , although very fit . He wants to leave when he gets better from accident but man keeps preventing him with various excuses , as story progresses it's apparent that the saviour is in fact a psychotic man who is up to no good ... Lots and lots of twists and turns in this film , lots of plot development which so many horrors lack these days. I'm giving it a high score of eight , loved the ginger madman , love the girl who was his daughter in this , oh and make sure you watch last couple mins as I thought it was credits before final bit came on , great horror film , class.

I am really surprised that a British made film could be so bad..the storyline although not the most original isn't too bad. However, the acting is terrible! They seem to have thrown in any old thing they thought would be disturbing to an audience, cannibalism, psychotisism, hints on incest etc but not developed the plot properly leaving the story to be just a mess of horror film clichés.Diana Vickers should definitely stick to singing as she plays a very unconvincing part in this film and I found myself actually rolling my eyes half the time she spoke. The expression on her face throughout the film is what I can only describe as pathetic, like a school girl that's been given a part in the school production for the first time not someone who has just found out her father is a murderer and cannibal. Her only purpose in this film is to look pretty and that alone. As for the rest of the actors (all 4 of them), Tony Curran at times almost made me believe his character and I can tell that he is not an awful actor even in this abomination of a film. Rupert Hill offers a very Coronation street performance..no more to be said here and as far as Peter Woodward is concerned, a very theatrical performance is given, particularly during his death scene I may have actually laughed out loud. The best actor may have been Adrian Bouchet in this!!! Overall I'm thoroughly disappointed that these actors (except Vickers) actually allowed this film to be released..seems like an amateur school project to me.

We picked this film from a good number showing to spend our hard earned cash on at Frighfest in London today. Frighfest is a truly excellent festival full of brilliant horror films, however, this is not one of them. Not by a long chalk. Even the production values which were fairly high and the normally excellent Tony Curran couldn't save this God awful film. The main problems with this film, and the issues were numerous, was the terrible script and the terrible acting of Diana Vickers. I don't often give reviews although I do watch many films. The strength of my feeling means that I am compelled to warn horror fans not to spend either their precious time or their money on this film. Instead, watch The Lesson made for much less money, much better acting and very well executed.
