Such a frustrating disappointment
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
View MoreYes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreBaar Baar Dekho could have worked with a great director, strong lead cast and fast pacing. Yet, though Jai's life is flying by him, the speed of the film is painfully slow. Siddharth Malhotra and especially Katrina Kaif are grossly inept with their performances and their attempts at comedy flop as the film can't decide if it wants to be serious, funny or surreal. You need good lead actors to invest in a movie. It has decent set design and that is about it. I had abysmally low expectations for it, but it could not even live up to those.
View MoreThis movie definitely deserves 8 stars. Unfortunately people who are looking for an item number from Katrina are disappointed. The whole point of this movie was to make a very important point and that is 'all of us have a chance to make things right and put family friends and careers in a priority order and you will know what matters' It is bit like the movie 'Live, Die, repeat'. I loved Katrinas acting (although this is the first time) but she totally portrays the image of a frustrated house wife coping with her husband and kids. In every stage of Jai's life he has a choice which either brings him closer to his dreams and further away from his family. And that frustration and confusion shows in Siddharth Malhotras character. I totally agree with the plot coz today as individuals we put our future in accordance to how well educated and capable we are of earning the big buck but we forget how important family and friends are at every point of our lives. You can't have everything in your life but you can decide what is more important. It is important to balance life out either way. The movie is sort of dragging after the interval. But it all comes together when you find out how his career and lack of responsibilities in the house has done to him. I think I loved the plot and the acting was amazing by everyone. And I would like to watch movies like these more often. So well done crew you did an amazing job!
View MoreI really do love this film! It's refreshing and an emotional love story that takes you on a Roller-coaster Ride wife life shown very clearly. I agree that it has it's flaws - the first half an hour is a total bore. Jai and the wedding preparations got me mad. Why can Jai not go to Cambridge!? Okay why is Jai being rude to the pandit? There are many more complaints about the first half an hour. The film could have been better executed and some things could have been better explained but Nitya Mehra is a debutante so I'll leave that aside. However, after the 'break up' between Jai and Diya, a day before their wedding, the film starts amazing you with unexpected surprises. The only thing that disappoints me is, not with the film, but more the fact that India is still so far behind. 5We say that we have modernized but if we have then why is this film apparently a "huge disappointment"? The reason for this is that 'Baar Baar Dekho' is not a masala entertainer like most people want Bollwoodd films to be. Instead Baar Baar Dekho teaches a very important life lesson - live in the moment and never let the people you love down and also never fight with them because you never know when they'll leave you. India expects to see a basic Bollywood film not something immune to India - Time Travel.Let me recall, wasn't the Back To The Future series a huge hit everywhere? 3 Idiots was a huge huge Blockbuster (one of my fave films EVERRR!) Then why do we not appreciate an amazing attempt at changing the Bollywood industry? I suspect that it's because of the deep message, scenes and the sci-fi elements from the movie. I can personally relate to this film in a certain way which may be the reason why I thought it was so good but I also thought that Siddarth's performance was AMAZING! After 'Ek Villain' and 'Kapoor and Sons', I thought that I would no get to see a great film of Sid's again; boy was I wrong. Every expression in the time traveling scenes is spot on - whether it's bewilderment or excitement, Sadness or Romance, he is SPOT ON. He made me cry twice...TWICE, and let me tell you I love the song 'Yeri Khair Mangdi' but boy it made me cry a river. I am not one to cry during films, though I did cry in certain films like 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Sultan' and 'Ek Villain', thus makes it clear that it must have something touching and great in it... and it does! It makes think about life and be happy in the moment!!! Not many bwood films can do that.Coming to Katrina, I personally thought she did a great job and SHE CAN ACT for anyone who says she can't. Those scenes where she is crying during their fights, u can see that she is acting. Yes, she is not the best but she works very hard which is something I admire about her. Sarika's performance in the film was Great and the actress who plays Chitra (I'm sorry, I don't know her name) has talent. Other than that none of the other main characters stood out to me. My favorite part of the film was when Jai is sent back from 2043 (I think?) to 2023 to sort his life out and the way he does that brings a smile to our faces. The way he aches for Diya and is willing to do anything to make sure she does not leave him in the coming future, is really really sweet. He is desperate to keep his childhood sweetheart his wife (I love childhood to adult love stories!). Every song in the film is AWESOME. Kala Chashma obvio tops the list and Sau Aasmaan is a close second.I would recommend anyone who has gone through hardships in life or is a youngster like me to watch this film! That's it, thanks for reading!
View MoreBaar Baar Dekho is the kind of movie which fits in special emotional minds, the minds who have time for emotions, the minds who are not always in hurry, though we all can sit, but we sits only for disasters movies , pity, crime or so called true stories of disasters, we can sit to see depression, because we see situations are similar with our minds, but we cant see a man imagining the suppression. Baar baar dekho is a unique movie of a very talented director, movies goes slowly it happens with these kinds of movies but the unique thing is director tried to make the people exciting in many scenes, but it seems director himself is very emotional, honest loving mind who want people to see and enjoy his movie, i wish him best of luck for future keep making movies like Baar Baar dekho, Thanks
