it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

This is what Batman Ninja was supposed to be!Change the setting. Put the characters on that time and change little things to make it work in those times. This was perfect and it had some especially beautiful sequences at the end.

When I first read a summary of the plot, I felt a little weirded out. Batman set in a Victorian Gotham??? But the heavy atmosphere and especially the music score was great, and when you're dealing with such disturbing names as Jack The Ripper, it's definitely going to be. It could easily be just a dark neo noir direct-to-video film, because aside from the character names and the fact that it's in Gotham nothing screams Batman. The twists and turns through the film makes it a gripping murder mystery, though, so therefore I can't say that I disliked it. The final climactic battle was similar to the one against the Joker from "The Dark Knight Returns Pt 2", and since that's one of the greatest takedowns in my opinion, this one the highlights of the film. If you can look past the odd setting I'll say it's an engaging murder mystery with some disturbing imagery to emphasize the gory nature of one of history's most insane madmen.

Batman Gotham by gaslight I believe is based off a comic. I can't remember much of the interview so do bare with me.I am sorry but I am just not impressed with the movie at all. The whole story was predictable over who was behind the murders of those women that got killed by Jack the Ripper. I will give it some credit since the animation is good quality and the voice cast was really good. Especially since it was nice hearing Bruce Greenwood voice Batman again and I am looking forward to hearing him again in season 3 of Young Justice. Well at least we never had weird shippings like Batman and Batgirl/Nightwing and Harley Quinn seriously? God knows what was Timm thinking when he was making those movie. Now this? Even though Justice League Gods and monsters chronicles was messed up and nearly killed the DC Universe at least the movie made up for it (see my reviews). This on the other hand is just student work i mean seriously: Jim Gordon is the ripper?, Tim, Dick and Jason are orphans running the on the streets and are raised by some mugger to steel?, Barbra Gordon is a psychopath?,I could go on and on but I am going to end my review here.

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight does have a fascinating take on the Dark Knight fighting Jack the Ripper, but the animation comes off as cheap at times.
