While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

There is plenty of terrible film that found cult followings. "The Room" and "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" are just 2. This film however is so bland and stupid that this 1984 film comes across like a British made 1960's film. However this film stumbles so bad that it's almost embarrassing to admit that I enjoy watching it. In this film "Supergirl" has to come to earth. In error the "Omegahedron" gets sent to earth. This powers "Supergirls" city. It gets released in error and lands on Earth and recovered by a Modern Day witch named Selena. The witch is played by Faye Dunaway. 3 years after "Mommie Dearest" Faye Dunaway was happy to land this huge role. However she is so over the top that she should remove this film from her resume and not "Mommie Dearest". Brenda Vaccaro plays her sidekick.Helen Slater plays "Supergirl" and she is fine but the film itself lets her down. She is pretty and plays both "Supergirl" and her alter ego Linda Lee with ease. Watch this for what this is and not what you expect. This is not "Superman". However Richard Donner created a film that was a hard act to follow. Richard Donner and Tom Mankiewicz been involved with this film we would had a much better film. The special effect in this are not very good. The plot is stupid and the pacing is terrible not matter what version you watch! There is several. There is the USA THEATRICAL VERSION. THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION. THE DIRECTOR CUT. There is also several television edition. All versions has footage that is not seen on other editions. Maybe one day Warner Brothers will released a home video version that has all the deleted scenes included as a bonus feature.

Superman's teenage cousin from Argo City on the planet Krypton lets a power source known as the Omegahedron slip away from her into space; without it, the air will become too thin to breathe and the population will suffocate. She takes it upon herself to fly solo to Earth, transforming into Supergirl along the way, where the Omegahedron has fallen into the hands of a greedy, power-seeking cut-rate witch who longs for--what else?--world domination. Helen Slater is a fine choice as Supergirl; her blushing cheeks, wide eyes and angelic smile manage to enchant the audience before she ever gets to do anything. She takes on the persona of a boarding school student--rooming with Lois Lane's little sister!--and, if nothing very exciting happens there, Slater's high spirits are a compensation. Supergirl's nemesis is played by a flame-haired Faye Dunaway (at her most mercurial), with sassy Brenda Vaccaro as her assistant (they're sort of the distaff version of Gene Hackman and Ned Beatty from 1978's "Superman"). Unfortunately, the writing takes a plunge after about 20 minutes. While Supergirl is busy saving various Earthlings from extravagant calamities, one can't help wondering about the desperate people of Argo City, struggling to breathe! Stultifying and overly-familiar, this is definitely a warmed-over superhero saga--and one that doesn't even particularly look good. *1/2 from ****

Kara Zor-El (Helen Slater) lives in an isolated community of Kryptonians. Zaltar (Peter O'Toole) lends the powerful Omegahedron for Kara to play with. It gets lost out in space and Kara chases after it. It lands on earth where Selena (Faye Dunaway) and Nigel are having a picnic. Selena uses it to power her witchcraft. Kara lands on earth and discovers her new powers. She takes on the identity of Linda Lee, cousin of Clark Kent, and attends a girls private school with Lucy Lane, younger sister of Lois Lane. She falls for grounds-keeper Ethan. Selena uses a love potion on Ethan. This came out between Superman III and IV. The quality is similarly somewhere between III and IV. There are a lot of silly things going on in this one. The addition of magic is a big hurdle when the movie is trying to make a flying girl believable. It becomes extremely campy. I'm fine with Helen Slater as Supergirl. The main problem for her is that she's forced to deal with a lot of silly girlie situations. She's on a world endangering quest. Yet she deals with mean girls and puppy love. It's another step on the inevitable decline of the early Superman franchise.

This not as good as Superman. Superman II is also better. Superman III is also better. Superman IV the quest for pieces is also better. Superman returns is also better. Man of steel is also better. But still this is a great action. It has great acting. Great story line. Great special effects. This is spin off of the Superman movies. It as a lot of action If I was going to make movie about Super girl I would make Superman the main character. It's about time they made a movie with Superman and Super girl to gather. But still this is a good movie. I here a lot of c.r.i.t.c.i.s.e.m about this movie and I am sick of it. Because it is a great movie. This movie is a most see. Do not lesson to the c.r.i.t.c.i.s.e.m. Ignore it. This movie is underrated.
