The greatest movie ever made..!
The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.

View MoreThrough painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
View MoreI really wanted to like this, mostly because unlike most of CGI animated films, this movie wasn't a comedy, but something more ambitious: A science fiction epic that deals many serious issues, such as the consequences of war, prejudice and ecological destruction Sadly, most of those themes are poorly treated in this film, being handled in a preachy and simplistic way. At several moments, this movie is even preachier than movies like "Avatar" from James Cameron.Even with the somber post-apocalyptic elements included in the story, most of the film feels flat and unmotivated, without anything remarkable. The ethical conflicts experimented by the main characters are shallowly explored, missing yet again another chance to introduce complex themes into this kind of animated films. It's like the makers of this film were afraid to do something truly dramatic or intense. Even the scenes that were supposed to be "dramatic" were unable to cause any emotion on me.While I can appreciate "Battle for Terra" as a meritorious effort to make something different with CGI animation, I can hardly enjoy this film. Personally, I think that it is way too preachy and simplistic to be interesting for the adults, but at the same time, it is too heave handed and dull to keep the interest of the children. That's a shame, considering the great potential of the plot.
View MoreI saw this movie on Netflix. I was just browsing through some titles, and I saw "Battle for Terra". I clicked on the title and saw that it was animated. At that point, I almost just went to the next movie, but then I saw some of the star-filled cast.......so I started watching the movie, thinking that I would turn it off after 10 minutes, but it got me. It sucked me in, kept me there, and left me with a few happy tears at the end. This movie surely could have been better if it wasn't animated and had the budget of Avatar, but my 9 out of 10 shows that I have no major complaints. I will be recommending this movie to a bunch of my friends.
View MoreI have seen many animated movies, most of which were very entertaining. There were some that were bad, and some that were good, but not great. This movie has to fall into the "bad" category. The plot of this movie was cliché, boring, half-hearted, and slow. It's almost like the writers just made it up on the spot, and decided to go with it without proofreading it. The most annoying thing about the plot was its slow (and I mean SLOW) pace. You would think that a movie involving aliens and spaceships and stuff would be full of action and suspense, but in the case of Battle for Terra, you would be dead wrong. The action scenes were appallingly boring, and the supposed "drama" surrounding the alien and the human pilot's forbidden friendship were bland and dull. The characters were flat, like cardboard, and I felt no connection to them at all. None of them had any redeeming qualities that made any aspect of the movie enjoyable. Every bit of the movie was a big cliché. You take Planet 51, Star Wars, and Avatar, and you have Battle for Terra, minus the awesomeness of Star Wars. There is nothing worthwhile to see in this movie. The animation is terrible, the plot is dumb, the movie moves at an extremely slow pace, the action scenes are lame, the characters are so dull it's unbelievable, and the emotion and heart of the movie was just nonexistent. Don't watch it, there are far better animated movies out there with far more original stories.
View MoreThere are so many good reviews here, I was actually tricked into watching this disaster. Many here say that the plot is very mature, the characters well developed and the movie overall is interesting both to children and adults.Let me be the voice of minority here and say that I was completely and unexpectedly bored for the entire duration of this movie. Perhaps my 6 year old self would have enjoyed it, but at 25 it's really a wrong cartoon to see.The plot - predictable, the characters - dull and annoying, the movie - a complete failure in the "animations that adults appreciate too" department. I watched it in full hoping it would get better but it did not. There is a chance that you will be like so many others who liked it, but if you feel bored and disinterested 20 min into the movie - turn it off, you will not like the rest of it either.
