A waste of 90 minutes of my life
I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.
View MoreIt's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
View MoreI enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
View MoreSorry but no redeeming value. the people who make this crap must be laundering money.
View MoreContinuing with the compulsion to watch more Seagal I took in "Belly of the Beast" yesterday and LOVED every minute of it! This DTV movie ticks all the right boxes for me; revenge, guns, swords, girls and Seagal! In this flick Seagal's daughter is taken hostage along with a congressman's daughter by a 'terrorist' cell looking to blackmail the US government. What they don't count on is that Seagal is one pis*ed of retired Special Ops Commando.....The direction, production and delivery of this movie is great. The budget of $14million really shines through and considering Stallone got $15million for Demolition Man alone this movie is shrewd! The only real let down is the 'mage' towards the end fight scene, this I thought wasn't needed.Overall the VFX were executed brilliantly, the kung-fu (I think!) was choreographed beautifully and Seagal's trademark stone faced acting was entertaining. Even if you're not a Seagal fan you can watch this movie. Good right out of the box to a complete novice! 7 out 10!
View MoreStarting with the upsides the soundtrack is okay and Monica Lo looks gorgeous. Plus the film starts off promisingly, and the film moves along reasonably. However, there are many things wrong with this film, starting with the non-existent plotting, routine action and clichéd script. The direction is plodding, the love subplot is so trite and slows the film down considerably and there are parts where the cinematography is shoddy. Then there is the acting, which really wasn't great. Steven Seagal looks unkempt and gives a lazy performance here, while the supporting players except for Lo are unexceptional at best. Overall, disappointing and not recommended. 4/10 Bethany Cox
View MoreBeer may have influenced my decision but "Belly of the Beast" went down pretty well. True, it's stupid in all things like storyline, acting and coherence but the action is plenty and semi-well done. Sure, the slow-mo bits are totally overused but the action is well handled by Steve (and one heck of a stunt double) and others.Despite the low budget the film looks beautiful and exteriors are very lovely - all that and the action make the film quite passable. But I must admit I've been quite slow in giving these Steven Seagal Direct-to-DVD flicks a chance. I'm a huge fan of his earlier work and having read mostly abysmal reviews for his recent output I've been hesitant at giving it a glance. But "Belly of the Beast" is not so bad. It's clear that Seagal doesn't strain himself with the acting too much but I still dig the guy. Why else would I (and many others) check out these undeniably inferior flicks in the first place? Well; "Into the Sun" and "Out of Reach" will get a spin in the near future...best get some beer handy.
