Reviews
TrueHello

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Billy: Portrait of a Street Kid is the kind of movie that stays with you for a long time. It's a look at the life of a young man living in the ghettos of a large city but he wants desperately to be a veterinarian and make a good life for himself. As he tries his best at his job, he finds himself despising his street life and how people from the suburbs have more of a chance than he does, but when his beloved girlfriend Roseanne dies during a botched abortion and he tries to kill himself with a hypodermic needle, only the psychiatrist he's been forced to speak to can help him. This movie is slightly outdated, but it carries a powerful message about a brave person who is finally able to make his dreams come true. It had excellent actors, especially for a low-budget movie. LeVar Burton, Michael Constantine and Chick Vennera are especially good at their roles. The 1970's jazz/disco type soundtrack was really catchy and cool to listen to during the whole film as well. If you're looking for a movie that you'll remember forever about one person's struggle to achieve his dream career, look no further. This movie is amazing and really deserves a better rep.
