To me, this movie is perfection.
SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
View Moredisgusting, overrated, pointless
A bit overrated, but still an amazing film
I remembered Matthew Marsden from Rambo and Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid also is part in Resident Evil and the horror movie Tamara which was quit good. Not sure why this guy is not getting more exposure he is a great actor.Super hot Christian Pitre who i did not know before this movie is very easy on the eye and has her role Marie Death down to the T.The film is beautiful, in many ways looks like a mad max movie with great action scenes and lot more gore. Its sad i feel this movie is going to go under the radar because its a b movie and does not seem to have a lot of exposure.Great action gore sci fi 8/10
View MoreI laughed myself silly! More style and sophistication than Pulp Fiction, with a Game of Thrones world view, in a post corporate, post apocalyptic OZ, where the wicked witch had won.And in any fantastic, or futuristic world, some exposition is essential. In this case it was concise, informative, and visually stimulating. It came after we were hooked on the idea of the characters. Isn't that, after all, the whole point of any story... the emotional journey of the characters? Characters who are believable, intriguing, and whacked out Conan style heroes. Even the bumbling, mature, 'Kid' is more than just a comic foil. His depths of character, and wisdom, drive the plot on more than one occasion.Naturally the people portraying the characters are a big part of the process. So hats off to Peter Pappas with casting the right faces in the right places. But the greatest accolade here would have to be for Director, Henry Saine. Bringing a visual style, and knowing when to use TV tricks, in the ninety minute format of a heroes journey. The sound track set a nice pace, working well with the editing. My only comment is the genre didn't include 'comedy' in the promotional material I'd seen.Once I realised the film was not taking itself too seriously I just sat back and had a good time.
View MoreThe plot: A post-apocalyptic bounty hunter goes on the defensive when a bounty is issued for his head and his ex-lover comes to collect.I didn't realize that this was directed by the same person who did The Last Lovecraft. If I had, I probably would have skipped it. Still, it was better than that horrid film, even if only marginally. I'm a sucker for exploitation films, post-apocalyptic films, and especially exploitative post-apocalyptic films, so I figured this would probably appeal to me. The concept does, but the film... not so much. If you're like me, nothing that I say about this film will discourage you from watching it. However, it's not really worth your time if you're looking for something more than a campy pastiche of Mad Max ripoffs. The first big problem is the humor. I guess if you liked The Last Lovecraft, you'll probably find this hilarious. It's immature, shallow, and not very witty at all. There a few entertaining moments, but they seem to arrive almost accidentally amid the assault of failed jokes. Like the warmed over Sarah Palin jokes from Iron Sky, this film does attempt to pander somewhat to left-leaning audiences, but there's absolutely no substance it. You could probably find wittier humor on Cracked.com. The splatter is somewhat amusing, and there are quite a few scenes of decapitation. If you are endlessly amused by gratuitous violence, there's always that saving grace. The hero's sidekick was just plain horrible, though. It reminded me of forced quirkiness of Six String Samurai. The second major problem is that the camera is constantly trying to have sex with the female star. It's downright distracting, and if you're more interested in watching a film than you are in ogling a moderately attractive B actress, this is going to be a slog to get through for you. Acting, characterization, plot -- pretty much everything comes in a distant second, if that. This isn't a deal-breaker, and it's kind of what one would expect from an exploitation film, but normally there is at least some pretense toward telling a story. This film seems mostly to be an excuse to shoot fanservice from a comic book. It's not terribly surprising to find that the director and writer previously collaborated on making exactly that. The third and possibly biggest problem is that everything in this film comes from another film. If you've sat through more than a few post-apocalyptic films, then it's likely you'll feel a constant sense of deja vu. Sure, I guess you could call it homage if you're feeling kind, but how badly do we need another low budget ripoff of The Road Warrior? I mean, sure, I'll keep watching them as fast as Phase 4 Films, Lionsgate, and other direct-to-video distributors can keep pumping them out, but maybe a bit of originality would be nice in a while. I can't help but think that Roger Corman could have done more with this high concept premise, and it essentially gets discarded in favor of Mad Max homages until the climax. If all you want is to ogle a B actress in a post-apocalyptic film with some good if derivative action sequences, then this is a good choice. In fact, it's probably a great choice. If you're looking for anything else, skip it.
View MoreAwesome movie. B-Rated Cult movie in it's finest. This is probably an unintentional stroke of genius. No matter what it is "Bounty Killer" has it. So much, in fact I had to write my first movie review. I did it based on the fact that I think everyone should try this movie out just once. Everything was done to max effect, despite the apparent budget. Matthew Marsden did real good as the brooding "Drifter" & Christian Pitre as "Mary Death" stole the show with her spicy combination of ruthlessness & sexy. Supporting actor Barak Hardley did a good job as the comic relief gun caddy "Jack". Supporting roles by Gary Busey, Eve, and Beverly D'Angelo also were not a wasted. All I can say from my personal experience, is that I came in looking for a time filler movie and found a very entertaining cult raunch movie in the same vein as Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez films. The only thing that separate this movie from the other ones is marketing & a bigger budget. If it'd had those things, it probably would've took Hollywood by storm. *(Hollywood Execs--hint, hint)* Wondering if you'd like it: If you like the movie poster, then chances are you're REALLY gonna like this film. It's exactly what you thought It was lol
