Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
View MoreIt was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
View MoreThere is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.
View MoreExcellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
View MoreI only lower my score to 9 because it followed a cliché plot. However, I am in awe of the incredible performance of Noah Bernett. This man, and I use this term knowingly despite his age, has shown the dedication to a role that many parents would not have OK'd, exemplary of a seasoned actor. Heis supporting cast gives an impeccable boost to this necessary and welcomed addition to the world.
View MoreYeesh. That's the first time I've ever sought to see the writer of a film. Because no matter how charming the acting, that script was a dog! It was like a first draft where embryos of ideas ended up in the final cut.I hardly ever write film reviews and am only on here because it seems such a lost opportunity and I'd like to commend the cast: if any of the cast is reading this, you were terrific! The young star, Noah Bernett, was fantastic, Tom Cavanagh was a great foil, and even poor old Ben Shenkman gave it go when the script allowed (rarely). Really, such a shame.
View MoreThey're still hard to find, aren't they? Well, you've found one. When the adults are messed up, and the kid needs them to get their act together, and being gay/coming out isn't just about you... Um, it's almost like real life. Wow. The adults in this movie definitely make all the right mistakes.Aesthetically, the film is great, but if you're wanting to find (more) safe ways to talk about queer family issues with your child, that's not your primary concern. And, actually, you can watch this one with a child of almost any age, and if you're kid is like my eight-year-old, there will be plenty of things to discuss.Enjoy.
View MoreI have never written a review for a movie before in my life, but when I stood up after finishing this movie, I had a grin on my face and a tear rolling down my cheek. Never before have I been so touched by a film as I was by 'Breakfast With Scot'.Obviously not being a movie critic, my mind is having issues putting the feeling I have into words. The acting was superb, with very believable characters. And the children! Oh, the children! Every single one of those kids really took over their role, and although I didn't see as much of them as I wanted to, they each made me feel like there could be a whole movie just about them. And yes, I even liked the slightly homophobic (but in a cute way) neighbor boy. He was actually my favorite character out of the whole thing. The main thing I can say is that this is a beautiful movie. Everything about it felt real. This is a movie you can relate to whether you're gay or not. It shows how not only the gay community is evolving, but how the world is evolving right along side it. The story unfolds in a way where you find yourself relating to the ideals and logic of each of the characters in turn, and in the end, you will most definitely leave embodied with a sense that the world is as simple as you could ever want it to be. And it is.
