Jesse Aarons trained all summer to become the fastest runner in school. So he's very upset when newcomer Leslie Burke outruns him and everyone else. Despite this and other differences including that she's rich, he's poor, she's a city girl, and he's a country boy the two become fast friends. Together they create Terabithia, a land of monsters, trolls, ogres, and giants where they rule as king and queen.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

For the first time in my life a movie made me literally cry like a baby. In my humble opinion I think this is the movie where a bit rubbish CGI made this film a masterpiece. The mix of emotions which comes with Lesli's death is unforgettable. After all, when we get to know that Lesli is dead it's all in the void what comes after. And the line said by Jessi's father shivers like hell "i don't know if there is a god, but i know for sure he won't send that little girl to hell".I think no one will look at life the same he did before.

I adored this movie. Yes, it is fictional. Yes, it is fantasy or adventure as they call it here on IMDb. Yes, this is a family film for families with children who can understand exactly what using an imagination is all about. Disney has imagination! Josh Hutcherson, plays Jess in this film and wow, what a wonderful actor and a praiseworthy performance from him. I loved his character all the way through the film. If we raised children to have his kind of character in this film, we'd be living in heaven on earth. His eye contact was pure and I could see the emotion in him throughout the entire film. Who is this young man? His hair was done so cute in this film. I can't wait to see other films from him. He's a favorite now! I've seen him in a few others films and I remembered him from them. He truly carries this film from beginning to the end though. He establishes a bond with a new girl at school that ironically moves into the home right next to his family's home. They are the main characters and story line. This is a film I've had on my watch list to see and finally I'm glad I did. When you can clap at the end, you know it's worth watching at least once. Don't miss it, if given the chance to see it. You won't be disappointed. The music teacher (Zooey Deschanel) is a cutie too! I think I remember her from 500 Days of Summer. I also believe that Jess has a secret 'teacher' crush on her in this film.

Bridge to Terabithia follows a young boy without any friends until the new girl joins his school. Together they discover a forest and create a fantasy world within it where they can live away from the real world. The end of the movie was the best part of it. The characters become much more realistic and it manages to actually strike up a bit of emotion. I came close to crying twice at various points in the last 20 minutes. The rest of the movie isn't very good. The child actors are kind of bad, so it's hard to look past them and enjoy the movie for the plot and what-not. But in actuality the plot still isn't very good. It's basically just a couple of kids playing around in a tree house. Sure, they're conjuring up their own plot and stuff, but even then it's not really that interesting. Although I'm sure that plenty of kids would like the fantasy aspect of it.Probably the worst part of this movie are the characters. Everyone is an absolute jerk to the point where they're unrealistic. The writing for the main bully characters is especially bad. I can't really tell if it's on purpose or not, but it's really difficult to take any of it seriously. Maybe that's just because I wasn't bullied when I was younger so I can't relate, but I think that whether or not I've experienced something like this I should be able to relate to or at least understand why these characters would do these things. That's just good writing. The biggest thing that sets the tone of the movie off is the ending. While I thought it was the best part of the movie it switches the tone from childish and fun to realistic and depressing, and it makes me wonder if it was supposed to be a kid's movie or not. Just out of the blue it suddenly throws a pretty mature theme at the audience. so is it for kids or adults? As far as I'm concerned the kids will like the majority of the movie except the ending, and adults will like the ending and that's it. So who's this movie for? Unless there's something I'm missing here. Another big problem I had was the relationship between the main character and his music teacher. Apparently they were relatively close, yet the amount of interactions they have with each other can be counted on one hand. He holds a door open for her once or twice, stares at her creepily, and suddenly they're besties. It just didn't make any sense where their sudden closeness came from. Overall Bridge to Terabithia isn't that great of a movie. While there were aspects that I liked, nor was it a particularly horrible experience to watch, it wasn't really that well made. Maybe I'm missing something, but as far as I'm concerned this is a pretty poorly made movie. In the end I wouldn't recommend it.

I liked this movie to begin with. It has a good pace and starts with a great story. Then out of nowhere the story takes a horrible unexpected UNNECESSARY turn that totally ruins the movie. It tries but fails to make up for it after. Just horrible horrible. It also fails to explore the fantasy world more than it actually does. It only just scrapes the surface where it could've gone so much further (down the rabbit hole). Most of the characters in the movie are good, but some are unnecessary and should've been left out completely. They only take up space where there should've been more fantasy world exploration.
