Celtic Woman: A New Journey Trailers

The original buxom quartet of female singers, Lisa, Maev, Orla, and Chloe, have duly been joined by Hayley and are, as usual, backed by a full symphony orchestra and choir, plus enough traditional instruments (the house fiddler, Mairead, is a powerhouse) to keep things legit. The material ranges from folkloric, to a standard from another Celtic nation, to classical lite, to movie hits, to homegrown New Age.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Celtic Woman has been a force and phenomenon in music for some time now, with many changes in cast, (None of those changes detrimental), and with many performances put to tape for enjoyment. But this performance, "New Journey" was and remains in my heart the greatest of them all. Here on their second release, the girls all realized just how good they really are. And they are having FUN! The cast and crew supporting them are also superb, with the drummers laughing, kicking in, and generally having a ball, and an exquisite chorus in support. Their voices meld to produce something far greater than the sum of the parts. Their smiles are contagious, the love of their audience and fans is palpable. I guess the simple sense of wonder and joy, combined with superb direction by Mr. Downes, are the best parts of a concert and performance not to be missed, and suitable for every age. One more thing. I have had the honor of knowing a couple of the CW ladies, and as well Mr. Downes, distantly. The quality of the people involved is outstanding. Friendly, talented, respectful, dedicated to music, art, and fans, they are good for the heart and the soul.

I first listened to Celtic Woman over a year ago (I know, I've been missing out for years!), and I can honestly say they are my all-time favorite music group. They have the voices of angels, their music (which is mostly a blend of traditional Irish music, classical music, and contemporary music) is absolutely lovely, and they are just so beautiful and graceful and truly incredible to watch. And on top of that, they are all so real and kind-hearted, and just as mind-blowingly beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. What's not to love?! This performance takes place at Slane Castle in Ireland and it offers a little something for everyone - from a stunning performance of "Scarborough Fair" by guest star Hayley Westenra, to Mairead Nesbitt's fun and energetic "Granuaile's Dance", to their incredibly catchy version of the traditional Irish folk song "Spanish Lady" (which was the first Celtic Woman song I had ever heard, and the song that made me fall in love with the indescribably amazing group).Fans of great music, you do NOT want to miss this!

I received this DVD for Christmas and can I just say how excited I was :) I have been obsessed with Celtic Woman ever since first seeing them perform on PBS. They are some of the most talented woman ever created!I especially love to watch Mariead "fly" around the stage and really get into her pieces. If i had to pick favorites out of the girls, I would have to pick Lisa, Orlagh and Mariead because they just seem to have great personalities (not that the others don't)and I can relater my voice to theirs while I sing along. I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone, especially CW fans; you can't help but sing along and fall in love with them all over again!

A New Journey is definitely a must-have for all Celtic Woman fans out there, and it will surely bring new fans on board like me. The concert opens strong with "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun" with all the CW ladies, and continues with familiar songs like "Orinoco Flow".For sure, my favorite song on the whole show has to be "Dulaman" performed by Meav Ni Mhaolchatha, and that beat-driven song in Gaelic. So yeah, you should all for sure catch it wherever you can, or even get it on DVD... for sure you won't regret it. If you are already here, it's because you are a fan of CW.The DVD in itself is pretty great, the 5.1 DTS and Surround mix makes it sound 10 times better than the Stereo track, and when you finish watching the concert, you can check the Behind the Scenes small doc that they have in it also...
