An absolute waste of money
A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
View MoreThe film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
View MoreI've never been a huge fan of Whoopi Goldberg but I really loved this movie! It's family friendly and a decent story about a woman (Whoopi) on the run from the mob with some of their stolen money or something. Anyway she hides out in a nunnery and poses as a nun even though she's a night club singer. She's a real fish out of water but ends up learning a lot from the real nuns, helps them change for the better as well with her fun singing and dancing (which ends up so beloved by the community the Pope comes to see their choir perform), and helps the community get safer and cleaner. Just an all around feel good movie with some really funny moments, a lot of heart, and even some great musical numbers!
View MoreSorry if you love this movie, but I have just been forced to watch it, by the wife, and I found it to be a thick slice of sickly cheese with embarrassing and somewhat patronising dialogue. The kids make you squirm (even before they start to sing) and the actresses playing the nuns look awkward and self-conscious.I know this is a favourite for many, many people, and each to his or her own, but I suppose, when all is said and done, I am the wrong demographic for this type of thing.Ham and cheese often go together, and if you like your plate heaped high you will love it.
View MoreMusical comedy that's Sister Act,betting in the formula that two different person can lives together...that's the main point when you bring a sinner singer running for the mob could be cover in a Covent managed for a strong moral code....clash between Deloris and Mother Superior, meanwhile the chemistry for both powerful actress Goldberg and Smith gave to the movie what it needs....ending up to get strong when the musical acts finally build another atmosphere for the whole story... enjoyable movie even today. It was released on DVD in Brazil without dubbing it's a crying shame...so l'd to watch it on Netflix that has a dubbed version.Resume:First Watch: 1996 / How many: 4 / Source: TV-Netflix / Rating: 7.5
View MoreDeloris is a singer and becomes a witness of a mob crime suddenly. To shelter her, police sends her to a nunnery as a sister. This film is comedy and music. I like music part of this film. For the first time I watched this film, it was in the music class, I didn't remember that because I may not like this. However, I like this film now because its music. Deloris starts coach the choir in the nunnery but the choir was terrible. Gradually they become better and their singing is very nice. I like the songs and I often sing them alone. Also casting is very nice. Whoopie Goldberg is wonderful actor and her voice is also nice. She plays sister Mary Clarence perfectly and fascinatingly. And other sisters are nice too. My favorite sister is sister Mary Robert because she is very cute and Wendy Makkenna plays very nice.
