Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de)

"Connection" is a British English-language short film from 2013, so this one has its 5th anniversary next year. The director is Vladimir Shcherban and one of the two writers here is Nikolai Khalezin who also plays the co-lead in here. However, the star in this 10-minute film is of course Jude Law and you don't get it too often that big movie stars or Oscar nominees appear in short films like these by relatively unknown filmmakers. But the subject (asylum/refugees) fits in somewhat nicely with our time and I also very much enjoyed the ending that once again takes the relatively mediocre film before that on a higher level eventually. I struggled actually with the two protagonists making the connection described in the title and it did not really feel that authentic to me. As for the ending, I liked the way they kept it open as it may or may not have been a positive one. The autograph implies positive, the guy asking for his pen does not necessarily imply negative, but it shows how the employee will still (regardless of personal preference) stick to the rules. All in all, a decent watch, as relevant today, probably even more, as five years ago and fans of Jude Lw should perhaps check it out especially because he is really as cool as they come in here. Worth checking out, but not a must-see in my opinion.
