i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

A vengeful spirit has taken the form of the Tooth Fairy to exact vengeance on the town that lynched her 150 years earlier. Her only opposition is the only child, now grown up, who has survived her before.Despite overwhelmingly bad reviews, "Darkness Falls" debuted at number one its opening weekend. Grossing $32,551,396 domestically and $47,488,536 worldwide, "Darkness Falls" was considered a commercial success at the U.S. box office, recouping its $11 million budget. Further proof that audiences do not care what the critics say.The film is neither bad nor good, but a film that just exists. The time of its release was just about when the mass production of low budget horror began. Today this would never go to theaters and may not even go direct to video. But by beating the glut, this one snuck through before it would have been necessary to have a bigger name attached.

I began to get suspicious that the actors in this movie were trying on an America accent and guess what? Yes its almost 90% Australian actors. Not a great movie but enough to give you the willies. As far as horror movies goes it certainly does the right thing in giving you a good scare. Worth a watch if not just for the comedic fake accents. The theme of the movie is based on a woman being burned at the stake like a common witch. That being the wrong move as she had not done a thing to deserve it. So on her dying wish she promises to curse the town and take every child when they lose their last baby tooth. Stay in the light. Well at least carry a torch.

There is nothing enjoyable about this movie. This movie's idea of scaring you is throwing as many jump scares at you as possible, whenever there's a moment of silence in the film, when there's no music to tell you what to feel, it's because it's leading up to a jump scare. It pulls the typical ghost story bull crap where the ghost kills someone and the police think the guy did it but the guy keeps telling everyone that ghost did it, but nobody believes him because ghosts don't exist. Most bad horror movies only do this scenario once, but they do it at least three times in this movie. That's only the tip of the iceberg of how awful this movie is, but I'm afraid to get anymore detailed for it could be "spoilers" (Even though you can spoil something that's already rotten). Take my word for it, avoid this movie. Don't fall for these "oh, the movie isn't that bad" or "such an entertaining movie" bull crap reviews, because these people don't know what they are talking about. Take it from someone who has to watch horror movies, this is one of the worst. Yes, there are far worst movies, but that doesn't mean this gets a free pass. It's crap, it's painful to watch, and if you really don't mind the painful moments, it's just a bore.

I'm sure it's not the worst horror film of the Aughts, but that's not saying much. The cinematography reduced itself to one cool shot, given away in the first ten minutes of the movie, then descended into unwatchable mediocrity. At least it wasn't shaky-cam. Chaney Kley gives the most stoned performance of his career. I think he's trying to look tired, but he just looks really baked. (for a great performance of "tired", see Christian Bale in The Machinist). He was way better in Legally Blonde, which feels hard to believe. The whole cast lacks energy and conviction.Darkness Falls sets up a whole stupid world where the Tooth Fairy is scary (no) and then doesn't follow any of its own stupid rules. The shocking lack of logic is just infuriating. The writing is rote, and follows formula so closely that even a casual observer can see the bones. God-awful.
